Yes I’ve had one for about two years and I used it to find an evap leak in Chevy Colorado
I’ve also used it to find vacuum leaks in few cars
I am not a pro mechanic just a hot rodder
It’s pretty simple to use, you need an air compressor and I used baby oil to create the smoke.

It’s helpful if you have a scan tool that allows your test the evap
System

I bought one of these a few years ago, costs less and works great. Would have never found the vacuum leak on my M3 without it.

I modded it with an adjustable timer/relay module so I don't have to keep connecting/disconnecting the battery leads so it won't overheat the oil. Can't remember the exact timing sequence I set it to, but it cycles the heater enough to keep it smoky. Usually only takes a few minutes to find the leak.

Sometimes you're better off just inspecting everything by common sense. we had Snap On tech set up their fancy machine to find a leak and smoke never did come out of leak area. We finally just "heard" it (it was leaking at fuel pump gasket under rear seat). Same thing could have been accomplished by visually inspecting things (this one had a fuel leak stain near pump).
