From the recent Cigar Thread, I know that there are a lot of us who like to enjoy a cigar or two.

The Question is where do you like to go to smoke one?

I have a loft in my garage (i'll post some pics later) that was originally going to be used to store stuff...but plans change all the time.

I insulated it, added knee walls, electric, walls and a door.

Now, you walk up the stairs and there is a storage area...go through the door and inside is my poker table with Light and a fan directly over it. A bar, some tall swivel chairs, a bench seat from a 1965 pickup, an old Pepsi-Cola Machine, 2 nice matching high back "smokin' chairs," a pedestal ash tray, My Old Technics stereo system with 4 floor speakers (2 Fisher-2 Infinity)
There is an exhaust system in the Ceiling and a Window air Condioning unit in the wall (not really needed now)

This is where I like to enjoy my Cigars!

What is your loft like...and where do you like to smoke?

I smoke in the garage. HJave a couple of folding lawn chairs I open up for buds, otherwise, I just puff away and go back inside.

I smoked in the garage once...took me ages to get the burnt rubber marks off the concrete. The stamped concrete driveway still has scorch marks all the way up to the road.
Fun at the time but paying now ! Ha ha ha

Personally I hate smoking , but I'm impatiently waiting on pics of said smoke room.

BTW, how much beer did it cost you to get the Pepsi machine upstairs ?

NUTTSGT, I'm kinda...(what My wife would call)...a Dumb A$$.
I hauled that Pepsi machine up there myself...as well a tore my entire Old garage down myself and broke and hauled the old concrete slab away myself.

I tend to hate Paying other people for services...some would call that a Cheap A$$

But, I share my Cigars and Beer with Friends!

I'll get those Pics today! KC

Here are some Crappy Photos (an old Sony Floppy Disc camera), so they are grainy.
But it will give you an idea on what I have discribed...

Area is 17' by 20'
Not the largest, but Mine!
I want to add Knotty Pine or Cedar to the walls and ceiling.
And still need to organize more, there is lots of **** up there still.

Here is a few more of the Bar Area, with the Dish TV, seating, and Poker Table setup.
The Fan was modified to hold my Grandmothers Leaded Glass Light.

I will get some better, clearer photos as I finish this area.

I would love to see other "Lofts", "Man Caves", "Play Rooms" so on and so on.
The Ideas and craftmanship that everyone comes up with is Fantastic.
It keeps me motivated. KC

Krammer!!!.......What a Great Episode!
I remember Jerry Trying not to laugh at Krammer because he was "Tanning" or getting "Smoked" from being locked inside His Apartment with all the Cigar Smoke.

My Father in Law smokes...He is 80 years old and everyone gives him greef, so he has a place to relax without getting Kicked outside all the time.

I remember when I had an Ash Tray at my Desk (at work) and you could smoke on the Train, going to work. Times have Changed for sure! (I used to smoke cigarettes years and years ago).

I'll have a Cigar 1-2 times a week, I buy mine through Thomson & Co., Inc.
I like their Specials that they run.

One question for the guys that have a smoke room. I just finished the garage and am ready to finish the loft for a kids play room. When i have buddies come over to play cards and there is 10 to 12 of us in there and most are smoking cigars, the smell seems to last for days. I am planing on finishing the upstairs and really hate to have everything stink in there. What do you guys do to prevent that? I have a furnance upstairs with a cold air return downstairs. I also have 2 ceilings fans. Any thoughts on this subject? You can click my link to check out the set up.

Thanks

You could find a "smoke-eater" to help alleviate it, but for the most part, the smell will always be lingering. I quit years ago but when I smoked the non-smokers would complain about the stench. I never could understand it as I couldn't smell it like the could.
After I quit I could understand what they were talking about. I don't ridicule anyone for smoking and out in my garage I have a few buds over that do smoke. When I go out the next morning the stench is really hanging in there and that is only after one or two smokes. So I open the doors and windows and soon it will go away after a couple of days.
But to eliminate it completely if all of that smoking is going on......it won't happen. The only thing you can really do is air fresheners, open windows, and above all...make the smokers stay outside:)

Sigmund Freud once said,
"A cigar is sometimes just a cigar".

Too obtuse? Try the next one....

A cigar is like a Link Trainer for a fellatist. (google it)

Ipigg, I saw your Build...First off, Very Nice!

To answer your question, I have a 5 blade Ceiling Fan going and I installed a Exhaust fan in the Ceiling.

Its not your standard (lets say) Bathroom store Bought exhaust fan.
Its a Squirrel cage fan thats mounted in a custom box that exhausts straight into a Roof Cap vent. It really moves alot of air.

There is a Wall Grate mounted in the ceiling and I can get to it (if I need to clean or service it) by dropping a hinged access door next to it.

Plus I have windows that I can open at each end for a cross breeze.

All this, so that it will not smell like cigars and stale Beer days later.
Its worked so far!

I do bodywork and paint in my garage...so cigar smell is not really the worse thing.
But good luck with your Loft, Its great that the Kids can Hang out and play in there also.

On a planet with alot of really Stupid people
I will occasionally have a cigar out in the garage but not often. When I am in the garage I am there for a purpose. When I want to smoke a cigar, I want to relax and enjoy it. I do most of my occasional cigar smoking in the warm weather seasons and this is usually where I am hanging out at that time. In fact one of my reasons for building the porch was to have a place to relax with a drink, a good book and to enjoy a cigar.
I still have some work to to do to complete it as you can see. close in the inside walls, install a ceiling, ceiling fans, speakers, volume control etc.

Nice Porch Mark-in-NH,
This is what my wife wants me to build on the front of our house...I better not let her see this.
I have a Deck off the back of the house, but it faces West...you can Bake out there in the summer. I want to build a Pergula to help...
...But a front porch like yours, facing East is Perfect!
Looks Relaxing and Inviting!
Thats were i would be too!
Thanks, KC

south of Somewhere but not close enough to a Saint
this is mine, it takes way to much space away from my shop but it keeps my wife happy because then the dog can stay out of the house... we live in the country and the stuff he gets into should not be brought inside

I Finally got around to Finishing the Ceilings and Walls.
I am using Knotty Pine Planks through-out the entire room.
Although...I had thought of a Chair Rail Type Shelf across the Bar Wall and using Brick or Stone Veneer below that...to Really Give it that Man Cave Feel!

Too many Projects and So Little Time!

KCarGuy,
Good luck with your smoking room. I was able to find an old one room schoolhouse (next to a 1,500 square foot building that was my garage -- it burned down 3 weeks ago, but that will be part of a new posting when it is rebuilt) that was a couple of miles down the road from my house that I turned into my mancave/cigar room/poker room/ coffee room or what ever else you want to call it. These pictures are a 6 months old (things are always changing) but it gives you an idea of what I have.
