Smoothing light broom finish

When I had the floor for my pole barn poured 3 months ago they put a light broom finish on it. I've since come to realize that the nature of the work I'll be doing (automotive repair and restoration) needs a smooth surface for multiple reasons. My research on here has mainly pointed to sanding using a floor polisher. Then I stumbled across this concrete prep tool and was wondering if anyone has used this and if it would work to remove the light broom finish?

Thank you,
Keith

You can do this, it will make a bunch of dust so be prepared.
When complete... you will have a porous surface left behind. My advice is to seal it.

Check your yellow pages or internet search for concrete grinding in your area. They come in with industrial-grade equipment and polish it off in a day. Then you just seal, and start working.

Steevo has the right idea. Once you see what a commercial floor grinder looks like you will realize it is not a DIY project. Some of the concrete contractors in our area offer the service. Check with the concrete cutting and coring companies. Some of them do it also.

It’s a grand plan until you see what a commercial polisher charges to do a home garage.

A 10” Edco Turbo Grinder or similar (rental house) can handle a light broom finish easily.
