Smoothing out rough spots on a garage floor?

I want to start by saying I know absolutely nothing about cement or flooring in general... but here's my issue

When I bought this house 12 years ago the entire garage floor was nice and smooth. But over the years this small area has gotten rough, mainly around the drain in the center of the floor. It's not a huge issue, but it is making it harder to roll around on an under-car creeper, or when I go to sweep up after grinding metal it makes things more difficult.
Is there a simple way that I could possibly patch or repair or somehow smooth this area back out without spending a fortune?

What do you guys suggest?

I’ve got kind of the same situation, the property I just bought has a 32x40’ garage with a concrete floor, but it was never smoothed out, so it’s very rough and I’d like to see if I can Sand it with a rental concrete sander?

Anyone have thoughts on this? The concrete is in good shape, just rough.

Attempting to 'grind down' to fix a floor can be a huge undertaking. Even 1/8" is a lot of grinding, and if there is aggregate near the top can be very difficult or almost impossible with a smaller grinder.

if very rough, may be better to patch it with an epoxy mortar to level it up. We carry these if needed.

Looks like some spalling from salt. Guess you park in there. Like armor says I’d fill rather then grind. Especially as it’s a pitched floor. Make sure you get as much rubble out as you can if it’s loose
