I got into the M12 stuff over the holidays and the HD near me has an M12 2310 snake cam on clearance for like $169. I got them to let me play with it for a little, the image is distorted (like 'Predator vision' or infrared) because it's got a broken pin where the camera cable attaches to the unit. The pin is far enough in there I might not be able to get it out of the socket.

I looked it up, the replacement camera cable would cost about $100 but it's not available from reseller sites. Haven't yet contacted Milwaukee for warranty service pricing/turnaround. I've had friends with both positive and negative experiences warranting Milwaukee tools recently.

Or I could get the HF one and put it in an Lboxx with the foam. I would rather have the M12 version, but I can't afford it full price; it's one of those things that will help but it isn't a justifiable necessity for me yet.

The guy at HD said they couldn't knock any more off but I gave him my number so he could let me know when they can. It's the tool itself and a charger, no batt & no case. I don't know that I will go for it but I definitely won't pay that price for a precision tool that doesn't have a protective case. I think I'd pay 80 for it considering either I have to pay more to use it or wait for Milwaukee to decide if or what they're willing to do.

just get it warrantied by milwaukee. all they ask for is a receipt of date of purchase, else they go by build date. If you feel that is a deal to you, then go for it. Cases are cheap, and batteries about $30. If you buy into the M12 system, i.e. another m12 tool then you are set with charger and battery.

You pay:
$169 for the broken camera
$40-$50 far a battery (unless you already have them)
$25 for a case (that's a guess)
And then you go through the warranty process

You've paid $225 minimum for a display model camera you could have bought new for $25 less and not spent a month of your life getting it fixed under warranty.

I have both the Milwaukee and HF and the HF's is equal to better than the Milwaukee. Which M12 camera you referencing?

Thanks for the info, the 2310 (supposedly the older version) is what I'm looking at. Yes I have plenty of M12 batteries & chargers, but I was thinking the price was a bit much without even the batt. And of course the more batts & chargers I get anyway, the more all tools can benefit from those.

I got some foam for the Lboxx from a member so I could use that same as if I got an HF one, so that's less of a complaint but it is a lot to not get a case with it.

Maybe I'll give it till he calls me about it to say for sure. I think at this point for me it's more of a 'want the M12 version' thing.
