I was encapsulating my daughter's "crawl space" in southern NC and when I was pulling the old fiberglass insulation from the sill/box beam area, there was a snake on the sill looking at me. He/she got my attention as I dropped down from the step ladder I was standing on to the ground. A couple weeks later, I had the back door to the deck (which is 12 feet off the ground) open to let in fresh air and there he/she was sliding across the hardwood floor in the hallway upstairs. I called my son-in-law who is a wildlife biologist and told him to get home and get the snake out of the house or I was going to "nuke their house from outer space".

I didn't say much about the size of it in my posts, but I'm not happy with a snake of any size in the attic. IF that one dropped out if the ceiling, into the house, and in front of my wife
.

Had it happen...100plus YO farmhouse w/ rubble stone foundation, lots of
rocky woods nearby. Luckily, my wife is an ALL animals lover. Snake crawls out of a disused chimney where the old wood burner pipe used to connect in our bedroom and she calls me on the phone telling how funny and cool it looked peeking out at her from behind the block off plate! LOL!
Doing the bathroom remodel, I met a 4 foot or so black snake face to face in the ceiling / eave area when I tore out all 70's drywall put up when they added plumbing to the house. We both said nothing...he crawled off into the depths of the wall framing.....I continued my work...I've found snake skins in all areas of the structure that I've been into doing work over the years.
The cat had a baby snake, playing with it, in the middle of living room just a few weeks back.

Around here we have copperheads, water moccasins, rattlesnakes, you prob. have a garter snake or a rat snake "baby" name him and keep him as a pet. He will keep down mice and other rodents. (don't stick your finger in his face or grab him real hard, not good, he'll scare the **** out of ya}
