Snap-n Battery rebuild question

This is a follow up to a question I asked before. I need a new 18V Snap-On NICAD battery but $220 is just too much for what I will be using it for. I have a few tools that are seldom used but nice to have that would not be worthwhile for me to replace with another platform so I am thinking of getting my Snap-On 18V battery rebuilt. There is only one place around me that can rebuild a battery. I did have a battery rebuilt by them 10+ years ago with bad results. I am trying to trouble shoot what went wrong with that rebuilt battery. I found written on a cell BYD DSC2400P 1.2V m 26. Were those good cells used? Also, I see cell packs on Ebay. Are those any good and if so, which one to go with?

No advice on the battery rebuild. Do you have any other battery powered tools? Maybe an adapter can work out?

Send them into MTO battery. Good work and good cells. Personally I've given up on NiCd as they just **** but MTO will do you right.
Thanks!! I am thinking of going with them. They have a choice of rebuild options ,but am not sure which way to go. Economy, OEM or OEM upgrade? I have had good results with my OEM runtime but not sure if the upgrade is worth it. At the same time, more power is good too. Any ideas?

after I got me first lithium battery, I dumped all of my nicad tools. No way I would pay to have one rebuilt. I would look for an adapter.

Have you checked? Ebay? Amazon? Dewalt. Milwaukee?

None I have ever seen for diag tools. Some select impacts have adapters for m18. I've seen one for an older impact.

This also assumes OP has m18 batteries. I had the battery rebuilt in my modis for about $85. The one adapter I saw was 50, plus buying an m18 charger and battery.

I was in no way suggesting that the op tool up with some battery platform and charger just so he could use or track down some battery adapter. Maybe I assumed too much. I expected he might have a current platform (dewalt, milwaukee, makita, etc) and looking for an adapter might be worth his time. Then again, there is a point of diminishing returns. His post was vague on details about what tools he would like to power. If he is in the $200+ price range to rebuild one battery he can probably find a one or two piece entry level or starter kit on sale with a charger and a couple batteries and still have some money left for an adapter if they can be found for his current tool.

Adapters are not readily available for snap on tools.
I dont have a 3D printer or any fancy tools, but built an adapter to use Ridgid batteries in Dewalt nicad tools. This was many years ago before Dewalt sold an adapter or adapters were readily available.

The lack of retail availability wouldn’t stop me from trying to get one. And it sounds like an opportunity for folks that have printers and are interested in such things as building something that (maybe) no one else has.
