buy yourself a 1/4" air ratchet and cordless impact wrench and you'll do a lot. Great tool for 8, 10 and 12mm stuff. My chrome stuff gets wallowed out when I use them with said tools so the impacts make more sense. I rarely use extensions however, but for $17 i'll add them to the arsenal.

I'm on the fence on these. I can buy them off my dealer for an extra $5 or so. That is a good price if you have the need though.

I'd be game for one, except most of my 1/4 impacts are hex drive not square, and conventional non impact work fine with regular chrome extensions.

how do the snapon trucks work, do they just sell the tools for retail or do they usually have discounted prices off the retail prices?

Depends on the driver/owner. At a minimum, they sell for full list price. Some will discount slightly if you establish a relationship and is a frequent buyer.

Just coming on a truck cold and only buying a few "smalls" will not get you a discount most times. Unless you have frequent access to a truck that makes a stop at a local garage to gain access, most times it is just better ordering direct from Snapon.com and just pay the full list retail price.

The dealer pays out of pocket for the tools from SnapOn at wholesale price. Then they put them on a truck and sell them to you for whatever you're crazy enough to pay. Usually dealers have negotiation room however don't expect much until you have a large account.

Appreciate it, pretty much a home mechanic so the only snap on's I have I bought off eBay. I would assume that if these tools had a 40 dollar markup many of the other tools in there lineup will have a similar markup

Yeah it just varies. If it gives you any idea, Snap On and Matco both give students 50% off retail. They have to buy direct though.

This deal was posted a couple months ago, for the same price IIRC. I bought a set. Still haven't used them as it's rare I use 1/4" impact sockets, but they're there for when I do!
