I've found a used Snap On 144TMPB 1/4" set with a nice, but dirty, PB99A case at a pawn shop for $49. The only problem with the set is the metric deep sockets are Companion brand ****, not Snap On. Everything else is as it should be. I'm thinking about offering them $30 since I'll be searching for the metric deep sockets. Think that's a pretty fair deal?

If everything else is Snap On and in good condition, I wouldn't hesitate paying $49, but then again, I'm from Denmark and prices are a different here.

That's what I'm thinking, I've never seen the set under $100. I may offer $30 and see if they'll meet somewhere in the middle. After all, it is missing a few pieces.... :lol_hitti

Yeah. That's what I would do too. Years ago I tried to talk a pawn broker into selling me a Snap On round head ratchet that was in a lousy Husky set. He said no way and I walked because the ratchet gear felt like trying to turn the Titanic in the middle of an iceberg.
Good luck though I hope you get it.

I'm headed back after work though

Don't bother, I was at what's obviously the same pawn shop, saw the set and couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.

Before and after the cleaning with the correct missing sockets added:

Did you happen to make a quick trip down to Arkansas to pick that up? :lol_hitti

This set didn't have the Snap On metric deep sockets. Did you snag that set for $50 too though?!

I spend my winters in Arkansas, but to answer you questions it was along trip with many stops on the way. As I said above, and I quote; "with the correct missing sockets added", I always bring my extra 1/4" Snap-On sockets down to Arkansas with me for the winter, you never know when someone will pass up an incredible deal and it'll fall right in your lap.

Just in case I didn't get the set you saw today I'd be flying back there to get them because we all know it's in Arkansas now.

The 144TMPB set sells for $590 off the truck.
I hope you didn't think too long.
You can always dress it out with Snap On later and still be way ahead of the game.
It's a very useful set.

Well I went back to the pawn shop after work with my wallet. Grabbed it off the shelf, took it to the counter and asked the guy if he'd take $30 for it since the deep metrics weren't Snap On. He took a look at it and then looked up who bought and priced it. Turns out it was the new girl and she didn't ask anyone before putting it on to the shelf. He wasn't happy after looking up what they were going for new and used, even missing some pieces. He wouldn't come off the price so I told him $50 even, no sales tax. He agreed, so now I'm a happy camper!

That's a $590.00 set. I bought 2 of these at the same pawn shop a year apart. The first one was pretty used and was missing 2 or 3 sockets. I got it for $15.00.They took the part # off the plastic case that was $30.00 new.Not the sticker which was the set part #. The 2nd set I got about a year later was as new for $75.00. Sometimes pawn shops are run by dumbbells.
