Snap on 18 piece 1/2 socket set

I bought an 18 piece snap on socket set today, not super old. The first thing I did was check the date codes ... No date , just patent pending. How do I tell the age ?

My guess would be late 60's 70's. You might wanna look for a date or part number on the tray.

Ok. I checked the patent number, it was applied for in 1963 and patented in 1966. I will check tray later

Some of the sockets look like a flank drive geometry and it looks like the socket in Pic 4 has that Knudsen, Price, and Olson patent number (3,273,340) on it. Granted 1966.

FYI - we have a good Snap-on thread going down here. It's active right now on page 1. But you can always find all threads no matter what page they are on very easily with the A-Z Index in the Sticky at the top of the forum.

Ok , was a 19 piece set … missing 3/4 sw 241

I've got one like that I put back into daily service. Can't find a part number on the box, but snap on font tells me it significantly older than yours. 1-1/4 seems to be about the biggest socket that will fit into it too

Mine has 3/8-1 1/2. Missing 1 obviously now

Looks like I'm missing the 3/8 then. Maybe one more.. mine starts at 7/16, and the 1-1/4 is tight in the biggest spot in the tray
