I thought i did not have any in my different collections. Turns out i do. Thought i would Post this for Those Who have never seen a 1943 date code. These Ratchets came from 1944 9/32” E sets. That is how i acquired them. c.IMG_2918.jpg

If this thread had been titled “Post up your 1943 dated Snap-on tools” I’m pretty sure it would have been a short one with Snapmom and maybe Lugz as the only other contributors. I’ve never seen one in person.

Interesting I didn’t know they had ever put the date on the actual handle part it self usually it’s on the round band above the handle

The low numbers give credence to the theory that snapmom and I have discussed before, that the "E" code production started much earlier than 1944, and it was just more convenient for them to peg it to 1944. We might be able to make some interesting and revelatory empirical hay, too, because my 1943 "3" code example is also a ratchet. Makes me wonder about the diversity - or not, of the tools that have it.

I just wish SOCKETS would use the existing Snap-on thread. It keeps conversations consolidated instead of fragmented, and makes finding it later a lot easier.
