Snap on 2020 date code

Just bought this ratchet yesterday and gotta say the year marking doesn't look anything like the chart that everyone uses. Not sure if they decided to change it for 2020 or what. I have a few items I bought that have this stamping on them.

Buy it off a truck?
Maybe it's the lower half of the 2020 year code.

Looks almost like a 2006, that was the decade that had all the weird angular codes... maybe a 2018 "crucible" that was misstamped? Sure doesn't look anything like 2020...

Is it new from the truck or 2nd hand?

I just looked and my RAT72A that came as a warranty replacement has the same stamp. It looks like the profile of a gemstone.

All the Snap-on I have bought recently has the 2019 date code still and a socket I got replaced a few days ago does too

Yes this was bought off the truck. It was fresh stock not old. I've compared it with stuff i bought withdate codes from 2014-2019 and all those years codes look like the chart. I just think maybe they decided this would be an easier symbol poss.

I just browsed through my latest purchases - all brand new from the truck and new stock ordered fresh from Snap-on. The FRL80 ratchet (new release), 4” 1/4” wobble extension, and torque adapter set all have the gemstone logo. It’s really clear on the laser etched torque adapter! The #4 Pozidriv screwdriver has the mark that matches the chart, and the new release BF636 body hammer has a 2012 mark which is odd because it’s a brand new release.

I'm wondering if they realized that the stamping doesn't work well after the chrome plating is applied.

I like the idea of a 1st half of the year date mark being different, just never seen that before. Not a big deal just something I found interesting.

The f80 I just bought also has this diamond gemstone code as well

There still has not been any confirmation on what year or what the diamond means?

I want to assume diamond means warranty exchanges but all of my 2021 warranty have the stick like number 1 which is correct per the stamp code charts.

I just bought a Williams S-52EHFA ratchet from Amazon and it has the diamond date code as well. Being a Williams, the marking isn’t as clear, as the fit and finish is slightly cheaper.
