Has anyone used the Snap On 3/4'' Air Impact Wrench? I'm interested to know if this is a great Gun to buy or not. This passed Monday I purchased Snap On 1/2'' Air Impact Wrench and thinking I should grab the 3/4'' one as well.

The 1/2'' I purchased delivers 810 Maximum Torque, the 3/4'' one is 1,200 Maximum Torque.

I asked this because I work on average one to 3 52'' Big Rig Trucks per month. The 3/4'' Air Impact Wrench would come in handle for heavy duty work.

What prompt me to buy the Snap On 1/2'' Impact Wrench was because my 1/2'' IngersollRand took a dump on me that same day. It was working fine for a year and half and just stop taking air in. I know IngersollRand has really great Air Impact Wrench, but I'm going to say away from them on the 3/4'' size.

Which IR gun crapped out on you? I like my Snap On guns, but given the choice between the Snap On MG1200 and Ingersoll 2145QiMAX, I'll take the 2145.

For a seldom use impact wrench i'd just assume get an IR as opposed to an $800 snap-on.

Assuming it was new your IR probably had a 2yr warranty on it.

I have ingersoll also, I'm not set on snap on impacts, I think ingersoll has the top notch, if you get the right gun you don't have to oil it all the time, just use a needle greaser in the back of it and grease it up. the gun will last longer with good grease, it don't blow out like oil.

my 3/4 ingersoll will dang near twist your arm off if you don't hold it with 2 hands

Our shop bought a new snap on 3/4 a few months ago. I think we bought a lemon though, its been out for repairs for as many months as we have had it.

for one to three trucks ask your snappy man if he has a used 3/4 gun.il be honest with you in my shop it is a mix of snap on cornwell and ir guns and if you ask each guy he will claim that he has never EVER oiled his gun he uses his gun 36 hours a day and he claims to tighten down truck lugnuts with his 3/8 gun or at least he could if he has to. also our shop air can be considered a liquid at times. what Im getting at with this is once you reach the higher end of tools it really boils down to preference. kinda like ford vs chevy. buy the snappy and be done with it.

I passed on the Snap On 3/4''. I found a local supplier that will rebuild my 1/2'' IR. There's no dogging IR brand, it works very well. Just was a little upset that it took a dump. At first I thought it was my CFM from the Compressor, checked that and also check my Inline Air Regulator as well. All is good though, IR is in the shop for repair.

BTW, I oil my guns daily. Even my air angle dies, anything that has to do with air exception of tire inflation tool.

I spent the money on Snap On 1/2'' Drive 12 Point Chrome Sockets. 10mm all the way up to 32mm for $500. I considered it a awesome decision!

I understand everyone's view. But I'm just starting to collect my tools. If the IR wasn't repairable, I would of opt for the Snap On 3/4'' rather than purchasing an exact IR 1/2'' replacement. But, the Snap On 1/2'' Drive MG725 that I've purchased recently is a awesome gun. Definitely tons of power, I had to use it on a recent job to remove some sub-frame bolts that the IR couldn't loosen. No regret.

I've got three 1/2" impacts (thundergun, IR2135, MG725), and one 3/4 (IR2141). The MG725 has more power than the 2135, but the thundergun lives in my cart. I bought the 2141 for a song, and its really strong! The older IR's the shop has are beasts too (IR261), and they put out crazy power on a 3/8 line. For me, in 3/8 and 1/2 SO has the power. For 3/4, IDK, its more even. You might want to look at a nitrocat, they are rated at 1600 ft/lbs, but are supposedly allergic to water in the line. With frequent oiling though, that might change.

true for everyone except snap-on, they design and manufacture their impacts in house.

any proof of that ? just curious, i thought i remembered having a conversation with my dealer about a gun and he said somebody made there impacts to their specs

For Blue Point they are outsourced. For regular SO MG series, their housings are unique for one. "How its Made" has this video:

for 3/4 and you dont use it often i would just grab a IR gun. i have the MG325 and MG725 with the 3/8 being the most used gun i have. why because at 3/8 that gun is beast! does pretty much everything! when its get tough i bust out the 1/2. i to want to pick up a 3/4 later on down the road but they dont make the mg1200 in green so am out of luck lol
