from what i heard wont be for a while since the 14.4 is somewhat the beast and snap on says " why mess with a good thing" its proven time and time again...

My Uncle was asking me about the 14.4 volts. I don't know much about them but we compared specs of the little 7.2v impact drivers to his makita 10.8v's, he was pretty impressed that they were similar if not identical specs (e.g. 3000 BPM/IPM).

Can anybody provide some more info or feedback on the 14.4's? It does seem kinda low as opposed to my Cman 19.2 and others such as DeWalt 20v. Thank you

Ni-Cad is dead technology for power tools. Paying Snap-On prices is even more ridiculous. Too many great options out there for a lot less. Snap-On will come out with lithium versions, just a matter of time. Its the only battery they haven't replaced (yet).

Even my Matco guy said the 3/8 snap on is good. The camo ones are coming on promo soon if you are into that sort of thing. the snap on is nice for a pro.

I would love to try the IR and the Milwaukee brushless one of these days I am sure the IR will will be bought I have the 1/2 would be nice to eliminate one battery charger

The 14.4 is awesome. I use mind daily for over four years now. SO ni cads are the best out there. Way better then the white elephant Milwaukee batteries that went **** up in three years and Milwaukee wouldn't do a damn thing about. I have $600 worth of junk lin ion. Someday when the SO fail, I can get them rebuilt for $50.

I like the ir v20 but i like the size of the snap on better as i have a big 18v makita impact driver but does not have the power the snap on does and would rather get the snap on that i know is alot better than the makita 3/8 cordless impact

Unless you like heavier impact guns, the IR can be used with their compact battery, making it lighter than the CT4410.

Ive used my SO 14.4v everyday for 2yrs as a field service tech. Its held up great. No complaints with the ni-cads, but it does weigh alot.

I'm biased, but I would buy into a platform that is all on the same battery like the new IR IQ V20 line. We just added a new ratchet to the line up.

Marlin, you work for IR, correct? I am split between Snap On's cordless tools and IR's. I do truly like IR's better, but in 1 month I will start receiving a 50% discount on Snap On. Does IR have a student discount program that covers the new IQ V20 line? I saw the older brochure, but it only has the older tools.

Sorry for the little thread hijack.... If you know anything, could you just PM me please.

Someone I work with has the student discount and it's not 1/2 off on all snap on tools. I think he said he can get the 1/2 for $400 instead of $600 or whatever it is now. I went with the snap on one just because he comes every week incase i have problems and nobody sells the ir around here

im not so sure it is a dead technology,i have the snap on 18v nicad drill and snap on 18v lithium drill, just bought a 14.4 nicad snap on impact and i have the 18v ni cad snap on impact, the nicad is just as good in my opinion.

Snap On's Nicads are actually very good at keeping their charge. The only downside is weight and the smaller capacity (2.5ah vs 3.0)
