I buddy of mine gave me a 31/32 Snap On 3/4 drive, 12pt socket they other day. I don't have that size in my tool box, wondering what it was used for commonly back in the day or currently? Thanks

Stupid question: Is it marked 31/32 or did you measure it and found it to measure 31/32?

I don't believe there is a std bolt head 31/32 across flats

..Probably brought to you by the same people that use 5.5mm bolts, or imports that use 10mm for everything, and toss an 11mm in there every once in awhile.

I've got 31/32 sockets in 1/2" drive for Bonney, Williams, Proto, Plomb and S-K. Might have others but can't check right now.

Was the part # an LDH #, meaning it was part of the regular 3/4 inch drive series or did it have some other # perhaps meaning a specialty application?

32ed sizes have been discussed many times before on this board. Prior to the Second World War, thirty-second sizes were fairly common. It was just a quirk of the engineers and designers of the late 19th and early 20th century to incorporate exact sizes. For a variety of reasons, probably simplification and and cost savings, the use of most of the 32ed sized fasteners fell out of favor. By the 1960's you just don't find fasteners in larger 32 sizes used.

My grandfather was a mechanic during the 50's - early 70's and I recall seeing some 31/32" and other odd sizes in his box. He worked a lot on tractors and other farm equipment.

My grandfather had one that he gave to me. It certainly looks used, but I have no idea on what!
