Well I finally bought a lift over the weekend, scored a snap on 6500# scissor lift for $800 from the original owner. It is a little dusty on the top from being in a body shop, but it works great! I had been depating on holding out until we move, but I was so sick of kneeling and working on my back. I can't do rwd transmissions or much exhaust work on the lift, but everything else will be so much easier!
I like it when guys give feedback on thing like this, so I thought I would share my experience.
This thing is a tank! luckily the guy had a skid steer with forks to load onto my car trailer. I pulled it off with a come along and the help of my neighbor and some 4x4 and 6x6 wood blocks.
We did ball joints on a Nissan Titan Sunday, and I cannot believe the stability of this lift! I will be doing a mini van motor swap out the bottom this week, so hopefully all goes well.
The one I bought has the flat center, so I am thinking about making a ramp and a shoe to make a motorcyle lift. Has anyone done this?

I got mine about 4 mo. ago.
Off of craigslist - $1000. Had been a workbench for the last 6 years.
Went up and down at his house, loaded it up.
Got it home and the motor quit.
$450 later, works flawlessly.
Pretty stable and I like the flat top
Mostly use for detailing, and interior work.
Have a smartlift for the heavy work.

Be very careful (and aware) during your engine swap.
CG will change quickly.

Parts and service manual(s) available online, I down loaded both!

Thanks for the tip, that had crossed my mind. I will have to get creative with the positioning of the arms so as not to cause any harm to me or the van.
