Can someone tell me why snap on offers 4 different breakdowns for an 8mm twist socket. I was doing brakes on a 2005 f150 today and the dust shields were rotted and I could have used one for 2 of the 8mm bolts.
See how it breaks it down in 1/4 increments

Rust scale can cause all kinds of weird sizes. Twist sockets need a tight fit. Obviously they're trying to offer a line-up that will fit as secure as possible.

In my experience you generally want to size down, not up. For an 8mm deformed/rounded fastener you'd probably be best off with something like the 7.5/7.25mm to take up the material that's lost so it bites into good metal.

Some times when a bolt head gets really bad. It'll basically shrink in size.

For example: Normally what would be a nut that would require a 14mm wrench. You can put a 12mm wrench on there pretty snug. Which I would then use a 12mm "turbo socket" on it.

Hope that helps but I have experienced it before.
