Same as the matco packer and lisle packer. I picked up a matco branded packer on special last month for $25. Either brand works the same, and works well.

My buddy has developed the best method of packing bearings I've ever seen. Ziploc sells their little vacuum sealer system for $5 and change. Put a bunch of grease in the bag, throw the bearings in and start pumping.

Once the bag has drawn down completely, it's pulled grease through every nook and cranny in the bearings.

I found this thread because I was searching for info on a vintage SO A180 packer, trying to see how and how well it works. This idea about the Ziploc vacuum system sounds pretty awesome, though. Has anyone else tried it? I'd be able to get the Ziploc starter kit for under $5 on Amazon.

In the only town in Pennsylvania, Bloomsburg.
Firstly bearing are not supposed to be fully packed, generally 1/3-2/3s of the space should contain grease. Secondly, many greases are not compatible with each other, so squeezing out the old grease with the new can create issues, unless the same type/or compatible grease is used. Admittedly hand packing is pretty messy, but a roll of paper towels is pretty cheap. $200 will buy a real tool

I use the Matco one, rebranded Lisle packer. Cost like $30 I think. Works very well.

Packing bearings by hand is a real PITA and time consuming. Eff that.
