I have a YA434B cabinet that was my dads. I want to press this sucker into service but I will need to upgrade my compressor. I do not have the owners manual to the cabinet to get the compressor needs for this unit from. I have limited space in the two car garage so I have to shop wisely when I choose the compressor, with space efficiency being a priority in the decision making.

Can anyone tell me the published minimum requirements for this unit?

Thanks?

I dont know that particular cabinet, but I have over 20cfm, delivered, for my cabinet and its not enough. When it comes to air, more is better, and its better to buy (and cry) once than to have a cabinet that is a PITA to use.

I just glanced online and the YA435 calls for 18cfm, and IMHO that would be the bare minimum. Id say 28cfm if it was me. Thats about what cfm I wish I had and my next compressor will likely be about that.

A lot can depend on the particular jet installed. A small jet and nozzle means small media and small blast cone, which means way more time, but use way less air.

Also dont overlook air drying. Blast cabinets need very dry air, wet air will mean clogs and general PITA operation.

There is nothing like a well running blast cabinet, but people dont realize what it takes to have that. A poorly preforming cabinet is barely above useless. There are many of those HF blast cabs out there gathering dust because someone didnt have either enough, or dry enough air for it to run.
