A guy at my shop let me use his adjustable wrench with the flank drive plus and it is fantastic! I was curious if they were the only company making such a adjustable wrench, I did note it said made in spain on it which was interesting, maybe they are sold under a different company. However many of the google searches just throw the snap ons at me or just differing grips.

Any info would be awesome thank you

Snap-On Purchased several European tool companies to form Snap-On Europe. Bahco of Sweden was one of the companies, and they were known for their adjustable wrenches. Irimo was another of the companies, and was based in Spain. After the purchases Snap-On moved most of the production to France and Spain for tax purposes. My understanding is Irimo is the company that is currently making the wrenches. I don't know whether the flank drive is used on any of the other Spanish produced wrenches. Snap-On may just use the flank drive on the Snap-On branded wrenches.

There were some other adjustable crescent style wrenches with grooved jaws. I don't know who produced them but the maker was likely from Taiwan or maybe China. Garrett Wade carried them a while back but didn't list a manufacturer. The grooving was different from the flank drive but would have severed a similar purpose.

Thanks for the info, it seems to be a no brainier for an adjustable wrench that may need some extra grip due to minor loosening/movement in the jaws. Just would have hoped to see more companies using it after just now finding it. Never used them till working on class 8 tractors with more room and I love having good ones, may just have to **** it up and get snappy.

I picked up this nice little 4-inch Bahco adjustable in Europe earlier this year. Made in Spain. Smooth jaws. Adjustable wrenches aren't my favorites, normally, but I have a 4-inch Diamond in the basement that gets used more than I'd expect and this new one will live in the garage toolbox to add that capability out there. This Bahco is a nicely made little tool.

My Snap On adjustable wrench has little notches cut into the jaws. I think that helps some. By far the best adjustable wrench I own.

I just brought one recently. $90 I think I love it.

I'm sure someone's going to chime in and say it's a ripoff and harbor freight does the same thing. But whatever lol.

Mine has size markings on it as well if I ever do need a regular wrench I know exactly what size it is

So are the snap on adjustable backwards like the Bahco? Bought a couple of bahcos and to adjust the jaws is opposite to every other, I just couldnt get used to it

I have the 4 piece set and I love them. The other techs can't understand why I would pay so much for adjustables, until they borrow them!

I would just like to give a shout-out to the Proto Click-Stop adjustable wrenches. I don't know if they're grooved on the tips, but when I find them at garage sales they're in remarkably good shape, not sloppy at all.

Adjustable wrenches are great!...for rounding off hex heads.

I have Pittsburgh, Crescent (spud) and HF junk. The latter are great hammers. First two are descent but anything high torque gets a box end wrench.

Where did you find the bahco at ?

Need a 15" one (strong enough) to put a persuasion piece of steel on.

To my understanding is that the 6,8,10 and 12 soft grip snap on are the only ones with teeth where the wide mouth version are flat

Been looking for a green set for years

I managed to grab the 12 inch snap on FDP with no grip at a pawn shop for 20 bucks a while back. Best 20 bucks I've spent in a long time.

Awesome grip and it feels just right in my hand.

I know what you mean about not being able to get used to the bahco direction.
I have a few of them now, the big mouth ones are great but the roller mechanism is backwards.

The new klein that I have is made in Spain and opens really wide. Handle color is blue.
I have 2 older snap on ajustables, 6 in, 10in made in USA with good chrome and they are the best ajustables I have ever used. I am always looking at pawn and fleas for more but they never show up forsale. This is a tool that I feel SO made better than every other tool truck.

Since Snap-on bought the Swedish brand Bahco they use the Bahco design even on the Snap-on branded adjustable wrenches. In my opinion the only design that is useable for an adjustable wrench. I am told that the Snap-on branded wrenches are made in the same factory in Spain that now makes Bahco tools as well. The biggest pro for taking a SO over the cheaper Bahco is the chrome finish.

Does anyone have the Bahco I am looking for some replacement ones. Like the Snap-On the best with the 'teeth'.

Got any pics?

I have the Bahco versions although without the teeth.

The adjustable wrench in this form was invented by Bahco, so it is in a way the "correct" rotation of the wheel, and Snap-on altered to this design on the SO branded line after purchasing Bahco.
