Snap-On air conditioning tools, need identified

I bought a Snap-On brake lathe a few years ago, and it came with a box of misc Snap-On tools. From what I can tell, they're AC tools. Here's the part numbers off them:

ACT 1A
ACT 8A
ACT 10 (2 ea)
ACT 11-1A (2 ea)
ACT 11-2A
ACT 12 (2 ea)
ACT 14-1
ACT 14-2
ACT 15A
ACT 16
ACT 20
ACT 23 (2 ea)
ACT 24

It also had these, which are not AC tools as far as I can tell. Sorry, no pictures of these 3:

CG 101-2
TR 25-1
A-14-1


If anyone knows what they're for, that'd be great. I don't really have any use for them, but I figure someone else might. If not, I'll keep 'em for making other stuff out of.

I have a act 1a also and have no idea what its for. Its the tall knurled one with cut outs on the bottom. Top left of the picture next to the other 2 tall objects that look similer to eachother. Whats it for?

I would bet that it is some sort of adapter kit for the lathe. Not like any AC tools I have ever seen. What model lathe did you buy?

They are AC compressor rebuild tools for sure. For A6 compressors I beleive (Not 100% on that)

From what I see you have a bearing puller and driver and I believe a few o ring resizers

The brake lathe was a YA-278 with a disc-cutter attachment and power feed.

Picked it up for $150 off Craigslist a couple years ago. Sold it a couple months ago for $800.

But yeah, the tools are definitely not for the lathe. I still have 'em all if anyone's interested. I have no use for them other than to use as stock for making stuff out of.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, without knowing what AC system they're for, I'm still stuck with a pile of random AC tools.

Hi there,
These tools are part of the Snap On AC service set DACT 2010. I purchased this set whe I worked at a Pontiac dealer. Unfortunately, some of the tools are missing and there are some duplicates. The handle marked A-14-1 is a driver handle and fits the ACT 11-1A driver. I will have to see photos of the other two tools to help with identification. This set will service the GM cylindrical and the then new rotary type compressors. These tools will remove and install the front seals and clutches on the aforementioned compressors. The original price with the optional KRA40 metal storage box was $145.77 in 1979 dollars. Quite a sum for a guy making $400.00 per week. I left the trade just a short time later and never had a chance to use mine, they are still new in the box. I hope this helps someone.

HI guys, Just an update on the last post. I visited a website called Collecting Snap On. Clicked on the 1978 through 1980 catalogues and voila! There is ca complete listing of all of the tools in this set plus the box, of which my number is incorrect. It is KRA 279. A picture and description of each of these tools is there. Check it out.

Well, there you have it. I still have most of these things (some have been re-purposed), so if anyone needs any of them (to complete a set?), let me know.
