Jeez, I don't know what the heck to believe anymore about Paypal.

They seem to either change their rules alot or apply them very inconsistently.


I had a situation where I was sent an item that was completely different than the seller described. I filed a dispute (NOT a claim) and said "item not as described". Paypal basically told me they couldn't do anything to help me, but encouraged the seller and I to work it out. We ended up coming to an agreement before I had to file a claim- so I don't know how it would have turned out- but I assumed from Paypal's initial response that I'd be SOL.



OK, slightly different question:

Has anyone PERSONALLY had Paypal take $$$ out of their bank account without their permission?? Not "a friend" or "I heard", but personal first hand experience????



I don't think Paypal can do it without your express permission. Sure, your Paypal account might be linked to your bank account, but the only time $$ ever leaves your bank account is when you authorize payment to someone.


I sure hope I'm right about this one- but please tell me if you know otherwise.

Gonna read the T&C's again, but I'm sure there are clauses in there that allow paypal to do whatever they want.

Sorry, I don't think this is the same as what I was asking, but apologies if it is.


It sounds like Paypal froze your Paypal account, and put your Paypal account in the negative. You couldn't do anything with your Paypal account until you cleared up the negative balance. This is ALOT different than Paypal taking money out of your bank account without your explicit approval.


Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like they did not do anything to your bank account- just your Paypal account. I think when this happens to people who are intent on scamming or ripping off people, they just close out their Paypal account and move on.

I just called paypal and asked them about my claim. They said that if they cannot get ahold of the seller in ten days they would refund my money, even if he closed his account and had no money in it.

That's good news, for you and others in this thread. I wonder if they then take legal action against him, or if they just accept it as a loss from the normal course of doing business?

Im not sure how they do it, but I always thought the money was insured from paypal just so people could not scam like this. It would seem to easy for someone to just get some money and close out an account and get away with it.

no company in this day and age will just "take a loss" I would imagine they would take legal action, unless its for pennies. But for a couple hundred like the current situation with this "seller" i would say hopefully everyone gets their money, and if you guys get your money, you can bet paypal will get it back from the "seller"

Just a useless update but at some point last week the home phone was "no longer in service". As of yesterday, the cell phone is no longer in service. I guess it's up to paypal now, and failing that I'll have a go through the CC company.

Alex Etchison has several tattoos across both arm's of his body you can't miss these. Here are some pictures of the Alex Etchison. Here is a short story of what happen between our friend Mr.Cho and Alex Etchison.


Kevin Cornwell(CATS EXOTICS) referred Alex Etchison to Mr.Cho talking him up saying he was a good guy and this that and the other. With Mr.Cho being the kinded hearted invidual he is Mr.Cho agree to hired alex to do some corporate restructuring. Now this is where things went sour.

1. Mr.Cornwell passed on Mr.Cho's personal financial information without his permission and or knowledge.
2. Mr.Cornwell voched for somebody he knew that had bad business practices
3. Mr.Cho got burned for $20,000.


I'm not sure how you feel about the people you love and care about I refuse to let any members of my family get burned by a con-artist and I won't rest until this is handled. We are giving a $25,000 cash reward to any information leading to the capture of this crook.. Here are the emails we have for alex

Those that talked to someone on the phone, who did you talk to? Did you confirm your deal with the person on the phone?

I never was able to reach him on the phone. It always went to voicemail. I left several messages and he never called back. The only way I could reach them was email, and they responded once or twice.


Hopefully I will know if I will get my money back on Sunday. That will be ten days since I filed the claim with paypal.

Post the full header of the email message FROM him, and we can get his IP address and city, state.

I'm guessing he likely scammed the Young's and gained access to their email/paypal. Which is why I wanted to know who talked to someone one the phone and if they confirmed the deal with that person. If the people on the other end of the phone knew nothing of your deal, then likely they have been scammed too. And also why they shutdown their phone numbers.

IP addresses form logs here point to a locations in GA.

I always left a voice mail but I got a response a number of times and if I recall I spoke with him at least once. The home phone was valid, though I couldn't swear it was connected to the address he gave me. I left messages at that number a couple of times and he responded to those. And yes, we did confirm the deal.


Here is "his" email address. [email protected]. The other was supposedly his wifes email and the one I used for the paypal xfer.

Do you want me to post the source that I got the email from?? On my email, I can click "view source" and it gives me a bunch of letters and numbers. There is alot of info..

If I read your post correctly and you're saying the people you reference were unwitting victims as well in this scam, do you really think it's a good idea to post their names and addresses publicly?

I can post some info from that rocketmail address I listed. What do you need? Message source info? I'm not sure what constitutes the full header of a message but tell me and I'll dig it up.

I don't have proof they were victims. Yea, they might have more info or others who were scammed may find their way here. Or the info is just bogus or aliases and won't matter either way.

So we're just going to blast people's personal information across the internet on the chance that they may or may not have or had not had something to do with it? Sorry, I don't think that's right.

Wow, no sooner than I hit send on that last message I got an email from paypal finding in my favor and crediting the money, so to speak. I would suggest parties involved CAREFULLY read that email from paypal. Below is a copy and paste from the email containing the pertinent info. Areas colored are the areas of concern that I highlighted.



Hello Thomas Greening,

We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favor.

We were able to recover $600.00 USD and this amount has been credited to
you. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted.

If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to
recover the balance from the seller.
