Snap-on All Weather Tool Chest Drawer Reconfiguration?

I just recently picked up the Snap-on all weather tool chest p/n# KMC18043PBK and I really like it so far but I want to reconfigure the drawers. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to take them out and put them back in. On the website it says the drawers are fully reconfigurable so I know that it is possible.

Does any one know how to take the drawers out?IMG_3520.jpegIMG_3522.jpegIMG_3521.jpeg

Push in that button on each slide with a flathead, and move each slide back while keeping the drawer out. Installation is just sliding the drawer in and it will lock back into place.

Additional shallow and deep drawers are available from Snap-on. My current setup in the work truck is 4 shallow, 3 deep. I just purchased that same box from the same seller, and will be swapping that top deep drawer for my two extra shallows to match my other box.

Thank you!

Actually looks like yours came with the best setup to just swap the deep drawer down and two of the shallows to the top. I just had to double check that mine showed up Friday and has 2 shallow and 4 deep.

Does that top drawer have 4 slides? If so, how do you push all 4 buttons at the same time with one flathead screwdriver?

I didn’t know about that Snap-on box. Its OEM is Pelican, yes?

Yes, it has 4 slides. You just depress the buttons one at a time and push each slide back past the stop.

Probably. Either way, they are stupid expensive (especially if you buy new). You could buy a 76" box and probably a hutch too for the same price as one of these cases.

Yeah it was pretty expensive, luckily I had a student discount which got me almost 50% off

The dimensions for the Snap-on are bigger than the Pelican, the Snap-on has one more deep drawer, and the Snap-on is somehow LOWER MSRP than the Pelican case.

You can probably get the Pelican a lot cheaper online someplace though.

The pelican is available preconfigured with either 1 or 2 deep drawers as an option. But the drawers are also available a-la-carte as well so you can configure however you want.

I'm not sure about the size difference, but Snap On does have at least 2 different versions with different drawer layouts.

My guess is they correspond with the Pelican options as noted in the post above by GeoBruin.

The Pelican case is available used online as Gov surplus branded as Armstrong. The Snap-on case is the replacement for those boxes (I've had to remove the US Army badges from both of mine).

The Armstrong case turns on its side to roll, so unless the tools are shadowed, you're going to have a big mess inside. It also takes up a much larger footprint when opened up, the way the cover and lid function.

Keep in ming the Pelican has a new version as of 2019. The Gen 2 has drawer slides while the gen 1 did not. I've seen the gen 1 used as the GMTK but I don't know if they have begun using the gen 2 as the GMTK.

And the Snap-on chest the OP posted has 3 deep drawers and 4 shallow drawers all in one housing, and no top tray. There is not a way to fit 3 deep and 4 shallow drawers in the Pelican no matter how you reconfigure it.

They don't.

Here's some links

The OP has this:
There are other versions with a different drawer layout in the same case.

The other Snap-on one is this:
There are other versions with a different drawer layout in the same case.

There are also different color options for those cases.

This is the Pelican case:
There are 2 drawer options.

If you look at the cases, you will see that the drawers aren't the same, the handles aren't the same, the dimensions aren't the same, and even the wheels are on different sides. Those are not the same case.

Not sure if this was directed at me, but I was not implying they are the same. Just pointing out that when comparing the merits of the two cases, drawer count/configuration is somewhat variable so shouldn't necessarily be a decision maker.

For the record, I also never said they were the same case...

I used words like "probably" "guess" and "not sure". Truth be told I didn't really look at them or otherwise pay much attention. Not do I honestly care who makes what.

They're all absurdly expensive. Even the Stahlwille version is $600. They're aimed at a mostly niche market with disposable budgets (aka large companies and government contracts).
