So I wanted to get some stainless drawer guards for my tool box but I couldn't justify the $250+ to get them. I'm just a home mechanic and not a professional. So I started looking around and found the plastic Snapguards in the supplemental Snap On catalog. Although they are not cheap by any means they are much cheaper than the SS version. I figured I could pick these up and try to paint them to look like brushed aluminum. Worst case I would just have clear plastic drawer guards if I couldn't figure out the paint. Anyway I gave it a go and here are the results. Overall I'm pretty happy how it came out.

Thanks Newchris! I did not rough them up. I just wiped them down first then had at it. I sprayed them down, waited a few minutes and then hit them again.

As for the part numbers, go to Snap On's website and search SFE

They don't have a lot of kits available. I have a KRA2312 which is similar to a KRA5213 minus one small drawer. Since they didn't have a kit for my tool box I got creative and ordered SFE4107, which came with 7 long pieces that are 35 9/16" long which fit my long drawers. Then I ordered the SFE2404 kit, which consists of 4 - 32" long pieces that I cut down to 12 1/16" for my 5 small drawers.

Old post, but thanks.

Searched the fourms and found this thread.

I bought the plastic drawer guards a few weeks ago, snaps onto the drawer and fits perfectly.
Although the plastic guards are not as pretty as the other fancy stainless steel guards, they get the job done at a fraction of the cost.
