It's funny... a lot of us have been regularly vocal about how important it is to support US manufacturing, and also spread the word to others about it.
I've seen a lot of folks posting about how it's pointless, been discussed too many times for their liking, etc., but it looks like they were flat out wrong.
It DOES matter to voice your displeasure, if not, how will the company ever know that they are doing something against their customer base's wishes?
Even worse, if you don't speak up, the companies assume that everyone is totally cool with it, and start doing it to all their products.
Additionally, when asked about customer response to the removal of the USA markings on tools, I've seen dealers here say that their customers "don't care", or "never say anything about it", or "only a couple customers care" (not exact quotes, but close enough). Well, obviously that is not true. The customers do care, and they're caring loudly enough for corporate to notice.
I'm not saying that the dealers here weren't being truthful or were being ignorant. They very well may have heard next to nothing from their customers, but I think it's for a different reason. IMO, most people are too polite to go to a tool dealer they have a rapport with and hope to get good deals/service from, and start complaining about the markings on the tools.
I know that when I go on the Snap-on truck, it's a happy experience, and I don't want to sour it by griping to my dealer about how angry I am that they removed the USA marking from some tools. That's why I'm not very vocal to my Snap-on dealer about it, but I am very vocal everywhere else.
