I ordered some sockets from Snap-On, I received most of the order, but a few were listed as "backodered" -- just curious what to expect from Snap-On with back ordered items, should I just cancel them or will they show up in a week or two?

usually when I order stuff off the truck that my driver doesn't have, my receipt always lists those as "backorder". I've never had to wait more than a week to receive anything. It might just be my driver, but that's been my experience.

Guess I should have mentioned I ordered the stuff off the Snap-On website. And the package came direct from their Illinois warehouse.

I think if you call customer service; they maybe able to give you a eta but I don't know for sure, give them a call. I think I remember calling them when some stuff didn't show up with the rest of my order; I think they can check on this computer database for when they will become available; worth a try.

My experience with snappy and matco's back order was that they were both VERY prompt. I doubt you will be waiting for long, my stuff came a week or so after the main order.

Your order will not be forgotten. You can call and see if your tools are available in the other warehouses. Snap-on has 4 warehouses, but all internet orders ship from Crystal Lake IL by default. If the tool is available somewhere else, they will ship it for you.

Thanks guys for the feedback. My concern was that this would sit in some backorder queue for months and I'd eventually forget about it and never receive the items... it's not anything I actually need, but it sounds like I should give it a couple of weeks before giving up.

I've had backordered stuff show up in several days. Give customer service a call (hopefully you will get a good rep). They can tell you when stock will be available and if it is available in another warehouse. As others have said, if there is stock in another warehouse they can get it shipped.

Varies on the item, some Snap-On stuff is backordered for long stretches of time. For example, Locking Plier Set LP404 used to be regularly backordered for months, not it appears unavailable. Most things show up within a few weeks though.

Speaking of backorders, I've been looking for a Williams M-52EHFA......1/4" sealed head long handle flex ratchet. toolsdelivered.com , where I've been buying Williams, has it on backorder as well as some other suppliers. The suppliers that do have them must know they are in low supply because they want 30-40% more for them (hate that). I called Snap-On Industrial and they confirmed they will not be available until mid May. They also said "we have 150 of them on order". Does that mean "on order" to build them or "on order" from another manufacturer? They really do look like the Gearwrench ratchet..as well as some others......but the catalog says "Made in USA"
