Snap-On bit socket question

I've got a FP22A #2 Phillips socket with a worn tip. I obtained a FP22E2 replacement tip from Snap-On. When I attempted to swap new for old, I encountered a problem: the roll-pin hole on the new bit does not exist. The replacement bit is simply dimpled on both sides. Additionally, the hex shaft on the new bit is slightly oversize to fit into the socket.

Is it normal to have to modify the bit to fit the socket? (ie. drill roll-pin holes and file-to-fit)

The new bits are just driven in with a hammer. Be sure to align the dimples away from the holes where the roll pin went thru.

No roll pins on the new ones. They just press them in.
