Last one I bought personally was the 6 point deep Sae & Metric socket bogo

I did pick up the 1/4 extension set with free T72 and 3/8 extension set with free F80 for my g.f's father a few weeks ago

Judging by the classifieds here I would say some buy them just to resell here.

Other than that some of us have to have a set for work, home and sometimes even a 3rd place.
If it wasnt for bogo's I wouldnt have been able to replace tools with ones I liked better for using at home and and a 3rd set at my g.f's

If your upgrading from lesser brands/tools these deals can be quite attractive if its paired with something you dont have.

I do this all the time and I,m sure other mechanics do. I might have some tool that works OK then I stumble across a cool deal or a used version of whatever the top of the range version is..............You know the rest :D

It gets worse the more you hang out on GJ. I thought I had most stuff covered but I keep discovering better alternatives all the time.

I'll second the upgrade replies from the other fellows, I've stepped up from a couple of lesser socket sets (won't mention the brand for fear of GJ knickers-twisting) and picked up some sweet ratchets to boot.

Also finally getting some tool kits put together for the truck/car/scrapyard by taking home some Crafstman or other stuff and picking up some Kobalt things to go with.
One great thing about my new Snappy dealer is that he will let me change the items in the deal for something I'd rather have, giving me credit for the item I didn't take.

Probably have done four or five BOGOs in the last 3 1/2 months.

some of the BOGO deals snap-on runs are bogus, you have to watch the prices

I have seen some where you pay $300 for socket set A ($200 retail) and get socket set B for 'free'

I wish my dealer would offer the BOGO but he don't. I asked why and he said "Cornwell sells that junk".

Why don't all dealers offer this?

And the relevance of the price of something 50 years ago to 18 months?

The prices for almost every set went up 10%-15% just in the last few months when there site was down for a few weekend in a row. The point he is making is you are comparing a price for some thing you bought 1.5 years. Same Example I bought tires for my truck 2.5 years ago for 111 a tire, same tire is now 186 from the cheapest source, costs go up over time therefore prices goes up. Pretty simple acutally.

I purchased the stuff from my dealer at BOGO prices because they BEAT SEP!!!! So that leads me to believe they are selling for cost and hoping you buy other stuff while you're on the truck.

no they are not

That set you bought is ridiculously marked up, check back in a few months when this promo is over.

No it isnt, thats the price it always is.

I only read 1 report here of someone getting screwed on a B1G1 deal and that was because their dealer chose to increase the price. Had nothing to do with Snap-On. Seems like a brilliant move to me to dump standard sets.

Even though it was my 3rd set $228 for 3/8" 6 point deep sockets 1/4- 7/8 & 8- 19mm was a good deal IMO
At times the metric set alone cost more than that.

I gotta agree most of the stuff most techs will probably have but if you are shopping for deals for others or looking for spare sets they are a good deal some times.

Apparently some people here buy them because any time I see a Bogo I can go in to the classifieds and see some one trying to sell them separately at a profit

Yea, that is the one reason I would like to have a local dealer is for the promo's. The 2 guys in my area will not talk to you if you do not work for a shop and neither will the guys in the area my father lives in. My father lives about 2 hours from me and had worked in a shop up until he retired. He spent plenty on the truck and now that he is retired the dealer will not do business with him. He has to have a friend that still works get him stuff or warranty something if it breaks.
