Totally depends on what tools are in the box, that box combo is common and shows up on Craigslist around here pretty frequently in the 500 range. I paid $125 for that top box (kr 537 ) on Craigslist last spring . Worth taking a look at to see what tools are in it, if there's enough tools in it that you need it might be a good deal, if the tools aren't what you need or the box isnt really packed I'd say the price seems kind of high

In my area that box would be around $1,000 and if what was in the pictures truly Snap On probably be close to $700-$800ish if not more. But my area isn't the best to go by.

Old school boxes with shallow top drawers don't do anything for me, can't put sockets in the top drawer where they're easily accessible unless you use rails and lay them flat. I wouldn't want to spend more than $500 or so on the set.

I thought it was pretty steep for that box. I do t really need any of the tools. I have plenty of USA craftsman, gearwrench and sk hand tools. Only problem is Sears just packed up and left and no sk dealer so warranty will be painful from now on. I would like to skip the whole tool truck wallet ****** and just find a good used set with box at one time for work. Since I never deal with the so guy (*******) I'm not sure but when I do find a set are they mandated to replace tools even if you didn't buy from them?

I bought that top and bottom box for $350 last year with a couple messed up drawer slides. Older 1980 model without the chrome trim.

They go for $400-600 around here. Not terribly desirable. Even with tools that price is very high.

they do not know what exactly what was bought from them/ what was not. if it breaks just hand it to the guy and tell him "I need a new one"
though they just send back to Snap on and are not "out" a dime, they do tend to complain about warrantying tools for someone that doesn't regularly buy "something" from them, and tend to also start not showing up quite as "regularly" to shops whose employees don't spend much money from them.

Seems pretty high to me also, there would have to be a lot of tools in it to make it worth it. The box itself is not worth a whole lot as others have said.

I have 2 KR557s and a KR537, and that seems like a lot. If it was jammed with all truck brand tools and was in mint condition I couldn't justify the price. These boxes are rugged and charming if you like old school design, but it would be tough working out of one on a daily basis. It seems everyone has moved to long cabinets that can be used as work benches.

Like everyone said, that series of boxes is pretty common and about one a month one shows up on CL around here. I would buy it for the tools and act like the boxes are a bonus.

Typically, in my experience, when the seller says "great deal", "great buy", "won't find cheaper" or something to that effect. VERY seldom are they correct.
Now granted the pics aren't all that great, but...As cool as I think those older boxes are, they are getting dated fast by the majority of users. Friction slides, dividers and relatively small depth make for a dwindling market.
