Looking for a new box and had settled on a Craftsman from Lowes (Made in USA from Global parts). Then I saw this and wondered if it was worth pursuing.

For the right price I'd take that everyday of the week and twice on Sunday over the Craftsman. The new
Craftsman boxes are not built as well as the old ones.

I'd give at least what the new Craftsman cost (400-500). Might go more if condition is above average. I already have that top box, had since new.

My freshman in college (Notre Dame) daughter is on me about buying things made in USA (not sure about Mastercraft) and buying used if possible. Something about only 1 planet??

Looks like a KRA59A and a KRA-433. Unless you want a vintage type box I'd consider a HF set. For $450 you'll get more storage and the option of a side cabinets. I wouldn't go more than $250 on that Snap On set. I'd pay more for a better SO box or set. Matching depth boxes eliminates the surface in front of the drawer and gives you more space. You can move the top box forward but it does add a little to the tipping risk. Although you'd have work pretty hard to tip a friction slide box.

it doesnt do any good buying usa made if its junk. the new craftsman boxes are built poorly compared to the old. most of the ones on display at lowes are damaged, they just seem soft!
its a struggle, as a large part of my tool collection is us and euro..but i wont buy usa just to do it if the quality isnt there.
it refreshing that she has a good view on those things though! you would be better off finding a nicer used tool truck box or even an older waterloo or craftsman.

I'll take older snap-on over most new tool boxes at the same price point. Even though those are drawer slides and not rollers, with proper cleaning and lubrication (paraffin wax rubbed on)they are very nice. If you can get that in the $350 range I would go for it. But price is very location dependent. Around here there are deals to be had if you look long enough.

For a working box, I'd suggest you go to harbor freight.

For a next old box, that is kinda one of them. As mentioned KRA59 top

The fact it has an add on base, makes me think it was probably used hard.

Good points. I'm always leery when I see a box on a base instead of it's original castors.

I'd go $250 max on that Snap On setup and I'm a big fan of older Snap On boxes.

You did fine at $250... I had a similar setup at one time and it's a heavy built box.

So two tool chest
Snap On - $250
Blue Point - $150

Spent $400 like I was planning on two HF carts and think I got better boxes. Maybe the BP is not better, but it is Bigger.
