Snap-On Box Model # Question

I bought this Snap-On box (bottom and mid-) at the flea market today. Do all Snap-On boxes have the model # engraved in the back? The box seems to be very well-built and in pretty good condition, although sporting a years-long accumulation of grease, grit and grime. After I got it home, I looked for the model number on the back, but there was none. Could it be in some other location? Inside the box?

I wonder if someone slapped the Snap-On badge onto some other box. Does anyone recognize this style of toolbox? I'm curious about just what I got for my $50.:headscrat

Wow---that was quick. Thank you for providing that information. I had been guessing that it was made sometime in the 60's.

I'm not sure what I want to do with the boxes---they need at a minimum a good cleaning, and probably deserve a re-paint. The keys are missing, of course, but that shouldn't be too difficult to replace.

Snap On made that box for a number of years. 1965 catalogs have them in there and your boxes certainly have the date of manufacture on them. Look a little closer on the back. Use a flashlight to cast shadows because sometimes the stamp is barely visible. In some cases, the factory paint hides the stamp completely.

You stole that rig for 50 bucks. The cheapest I have ever seen that setup was for 500 bucks.

You ****.

If you don't mind my asking, what flea market do you go to if you live in Pacifica? That was a great deal for a nice box!

Hmmmm... maybe I should keep it a secret---I don't need any competition!:bounce:

Just kidding---I got it at the San Francisco flea market on Alemany Blvd. It's every Sunday, weather permitting. There are several regular sellers who have a pretty good stock of tools.
