Snap On Box on CL

Hi All,
Saw this box today while surfing Craigslist. I can understand someone owning one box like this but it appears that there are two more just like it to the left. The seller is correct about the Transformers movie being filmed here in Detroit but hard to believe they'd leave these behind. Unless someone was really lucky on the clean up crew.

I saw one of this guys ads earlier for a different box and I could see the white ones in the background, so he has more than just the white ones.

It's possible that this guy is a SO dealer or prop dealer, and these boxes were leased to the film then returned. I doubt the that production would have purchased new boxes as props, unless they intended to destroy them during filming. The cost would have taken too much of a bite out of the prop budget that could be used elsewhere. You'd have to examine his "paperwork" carefully to be sure.

Another possibility is that if the production company did buy the boxes, they may have auctioned the unwanted props off to recover some of the costs after filming was finished, rather than shipping them back to Calf for liquidation.

Found a couple more today on CL . One appears to be reasonably priced and the other has some(apparently) priceless stickers on it to help increase the value while protecting the paint.

Not a huge fan of the all white box. It needs some color trim to break up the wall of white. Looks like it belongs in a kitchen or medical lab. JMHO.

I like the color of that blue box. The red boxes above, I'm fairly certain are not snap on boxes. I think they are stack on

FYI - I'd be very careful about buying a trailer without a title these days. I've been burned more than once that way and had to scrap a perfectly good trailer. I don't know about RI, but MA is a PITA about untitled vehicles, including trailers, and is unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue. Fortunately, I had the means to register one trailer in ME since that's where it was going to be stored and used most of the year. But even then, it wasn't easy. In MA, they want to see the receipts for the materials and documentation of the build. The days of simply registering an un-titled trailer as homemade are gone in New England.

After I posted here I read back thru the ad and realized the non titled trailer. Looks nice, but like you guys said registering it will be tedious. It's still a good deal for all that stuff and even better if the trailer was street legal.

Note that while he mentions the cart, he doesn't mention the tool box, so not sure that is included. If it isn't, it's no great deal.

I've got a buddy who lives in Boston, who has a trailer he made himself for towing tires to the racetrack.

He said it's possible to get around the DMV requiring a title, but I don't know the specifics. Google is your friend there.

I'm bored at work, so I googled... Looks like all you need, if the trailer is under 3,000 lbs (which I would bet that one is, easy) is a bill of sale and some form called an RMV1

It's the RMV1 form that's the problem.
It requires a VIN number and previous Title number (unless new). It doesn't recognize an undocumented vehicle and has no provisions for them. If you leave anything blank, the RMV (DOT elsewhere) can't issue a registration or title. You would have to have the trailer inspected at the RMV headquarters in Boston to prove that it's homemade. But without a tag, you would need to pay to have it transported since it can't be on the road with out the tag that you're trying to get in the first place.

In short, they've made the process so cumbersome and un-friendly that it isn't worth bothering with in an attempt to force all vehicles to conform to the Title Laws by forcing undocumented ones to the scrapyards (which are harder to find nowadays due to EPA regulations ).
