I purchased a used Snap on KRL 791 to sit on top of my rolling chest. It is white with black trim at the corners and as drawer pulls. White wouldn't be my first choice but finding a 791 by itself was a rare opportunity that I couldn't pass on.
So the white is growing on me the black trim has to go! It is a light aluminum alloy that I think (?) is anodized black. A plating company in Milwaukee couldn't tell if it was anodized but wanted more than new parts would cost to make them silver.
I'm thinking rattle can. How do I prepare the surface for painting? I want to make sure the paint sticks but bead blasting is probably to abrasive. Oven cleaner may be an option but I'm worried that it will eat the face of eth trim.
Suggestions?
Thanks!!
Steve
