So im going to need a new tool box soon seeing as i just filled mine up. Im just looking around craigslist and such at some 3 bay snapon's and matco's. My only real beef with the snap on boxes are the lock-n-roll drawer lock. What boxes doesn't have that if any? does the classic 96?

You can take the lock-n-roll piece out of the drawers in about 2 seconds. There's still friction built into the slides, but the drawers could come open in certain situations.

If you can find a newer Cornwell box they have a better version of the latch that the epiq has. And they usually can be had cheaper. Look for the new 75" triple bay Pro series Cornwell. I have seen them new for 2k on Craigslist here locally. The drawer latches are the best I have used. I am kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on one.

My Classic 96 most definitely has it. However, it doesn't bother me in the least. I honestly don't even notice it anymore. I think people make into a bigger deal than it really is.

i was looking at a snappy box last time i was on the truck and to me it seems like one of the things that is annoying at first but is not bad after awhile

What Mike said. I took the "feature" off my new KRA 2422 in about 2 minutes. It still has slight resistance to open, but I'm much happier now as I don't move the box. If needed, the locking strips can be reinstalled.

Yep, just open the drawer, put a finger under the locking tab, and pull right. Toss em all under the bottom drawer.

Dunno why you'd want to though. After having my old box tip twice due to a little off kilter causing a cascade of opening drawers, it was a selling point to me.

This is the single reason I bought a used Epiq as I don't lock and roll. I was use to the impulse style as it is similar to Cman that I had previously.

Lock 'n Roll came about in the very early 1990s with the introduction of the KRL series and then later the KRA series. If you want a Snap-on box without the Lock 'n Roll feature, you'll have to get an older KR series which was last seen in the 1990 catalog.

You ge use to it very quickly to the point you never notice it. I like the this step better vs having to pull over a detent.

And it's a good way to keep matco owners out of your box even when unlocked...haha

You bought a top-of-the-line Snap On Epiq because it was most like your Sears box?

:lol_hitti

I get what you're saying, it just came out funny...

I too don't see what the issue is with L&R. With very little use, it becomes instinctive. It does keep most unknowing people out of your box as well.

I like Lock n Roll. Works well and you get used to it fast. Every lay person thinks your box is locked too if they try and open it.

I took off the lock-n-roll and threw it in the bin, most annoying thing ever in my opinion. I just lock the box if I move it
