Just bought some basic stuff but I figured you all might enjoy a little tool ****. Not a great pic though, sorry.

Thanks, I now see what the fuss is all about. I still like MAC and craftsman but I'm not sure anything but a snapon ratchet will feel right again.

My only complaint is that one of the ratchets came scratched up pretty good. Almost like it was a return or a rebuilt warranty one. I'm not worried about it because I'll just scratch it up anyways more then likely.

Did you get it from a dealer or was it shipped from Snap-on?

I know this pic ***** but my $300 Sony camera is a piece of ****. Not deep scratches, but scratches nonetheless.

That ratchet was probably on a dealers truck at one time. Then returned to Snap-on for whatever reason and then used to fill your order. Like you said, the ratchet is going to get used.

I'm needing to pick up a 1" drive Ratchet. Is there any real advantage to buying a snapon/matco/Mac one? Hell, do they even make their own 1" ratchets?

Or should I just pick one up at harbor freight and call it a day? Thats what I'm leaning towards. Tool truck brands are astronomical when it comes to 1".

I bought some new goodies myself.

Hammer for air hammer'
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...9&group_ID=864&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

Perfect lazy mans tool. Also bought a used 8 and 15 mm wrench for 30 bucks of the truck.

I confused though. The snap on guy said the flank drives are only on the box end, not the open end. I thought it was both?

But I think I pissed my guy off. I was window shopping asking a lot of prices. And decided tro pass. Think I aggravated him. I cant help myself. I dotn buy much of snap on unless its speciality. I work as a pro and only buy snap on if it will beat a craftsmen or something else.

Only thing I find on snap on that beats cman is flare wrenches and I like the reg wrenches as they are longer for more torque than cman.

Other than that I hate snappy as the prices are asorbent...too damn much.

So dont do like I do. Dont window shop, they dont like it

Oh and another tid bit. Seen my guy selling a mayhew 3/8 drive impact rated stud extractor. If ya google it, you can find it goes for like 40 bucks. My dealer wanted 75, see my point?

Im sure someone will disagrre, but to each their own:lol_hitti

The open end come in a version called "Flank drive plus".

They might not be better for you (whatever you do for a living) But I can tell you from experience SO is much better when you make your living with hand tools everyday. I replaced every Craftsman wrench (quite a few) and just about everything else I had Craftsman (and they were older versions that were better than whats made now).

Well the Snap-On bug bit me yesterday but the Matco bug got me today. This pic also isn't that good and I haven't gotten anything out of the packaging yet.

I'm spending so much on hand tools, I'll have to go el cheapo on my box but thats fine by me for now. I reckon it's more important whats in the box.

I went a little crazy too:

warrantied a plier (8cf70 I think) one of the guys I work with broke and 4 sockets out of a set I bought here. Driver didn't have a problem with it.

Bought a big f'ing hammer, set of 1/2 metric sockets, an 8mm and 14mm combo wrench, and ordered some parts for the KR537.
