Snap on Cabinet, SPP 814

I just picked these boxes up tonight, really cold night. Anyone know the history on these unique boxes and the original purpose they were made for, they are about 35" W, 33"H and 20" D, well made and have a built in light. Sliding plexiglass doors, one shelf and a roller bearing drawer. Cannot seem to find these in my Snap-On catalogs. They were previous owned by a Snap-On dealer. Maybe they are for the dealers trucks, but I have never looked at anything like these.

Was originally thinking about using the 4 boxes as the base of a work bench. But they seem to be made to accept wheels and may keep them stacked together with wheels on the base.

It sure looks like some kind of display case. Being used on a dealers truck makes sense; but what about something made special for a trade show?

Could be used in a dealer part dept, too. Reminds me of the Mopar cabinet I had not too long ago.

I no longer have a snap-on dealer, the one I purchased the majority of my tools left the business. Everyone else is relatively new, so the local dealer helping is not my first choice.

I have tried to find this model under the parts section of the Snap-On site, but the model is not listed. Guessing the wheels are not available thru Snap-On. What are the better brands of replacement casters and best places to order from, I would like equal or better quality to OEM.

trade show or for a tooltruck in some high theft areas

I have seen those in a few corporate offices in the past. they put the really old tools in them for display purposes. The spp number means that it was not meant to be an item that was sold to the technician as an everyday tool. like the ratchet tool it starts with spp.

that part number is no longer in my system. most of the spp parts are discontinued.

The first one looks like something to house a piece or pieces of test equipment for dianosis meters. The second could be used to store peanuts and chips, park it next to the coke machine.

So you picked them up. YOU **** . If I lived closer you would not have got them , congrats . Now you have to show pics of them with loaded. I had a snap on collection ( toolboxes ,clocks,occ chopper, and diaramas) that now has lost its new home.

I would build wood tables and put them on top. I would use them for small power tool and book storage. They are really great looking. I would like to have them.

my customers have wooden versions of those in their shops that hold die cast toys and their hats.
I would like to thave those for my gun collection. that would be awesome. rolling gun cabinet

This was a curio cabinet built as an award/incentive for Snap-on dealers. It was built in the late 1990's. I believe that these originally came with Faultless casters, looks like the
dealer must have taken them off. Nice find!

Below the part number and Snap On name is 95, guessing it was manufactured in 1995. They were stored in the family room with a large die cast car collection. The boxes are in mint condition and all four pieces are identical. Before seeing them in person, was thinking someone placed a snap-on emblem on a cabinet, but these are heavy and really well made with square tubing as reinforcements, you could easily stand on them without any problem.

Any idea what series of Faultless caster came with this box, based on the perfect paint around threads where the casters would be bolted the wheels were never mounted.

One shelf is going to used for my Cyclo polishers, still deciding what other items to store in the other 7 shelfs. Maybe a hard handle shrine in one of the drawers. A friend suggested using them as a liquor cabinet. Glad I took a chance and made a long drive to take a look at the boxes.

I don't know how attached you are to those cabinets but fordbroncodave is right the one on ebay (follow the link I posted) went for a little over $900 FOR JUST ONE!! Might wanna consider selling them. Congrats on the buy!
