Just logged into SO for the first time in a few months, and it looks like we're no longer getting Free Shipping on any order under $500 (I think it was $500).

Although SO was never in a rush to get items to me (literal weeks for deliv.), it was a very sweet deal while it lasted. I wonder what brought on the change? End of Covid restrictions? Pissed off dealers? Maybe its a website error?

A ratcheting screwdriver order I just quoted was $24.95 for shipping. It doesnt make much sense any more unless you put together a $250+ order where it looks like free shipping is kicking in now..

Just thought Id let you guys who used the service know, Im a bit bummed.

maybe with increase in shipping costs they nuked it
Maybe. But it was there 3-4ish months ago. I dont think costs went up in that time. Like I said it was super sweet, especially for small orders. I think there was a Website refresh in the meantime as well, maybe they just got rid of it at that time, who knows.

They would honestly prefer you hop on the tool truck. That's why their free shipping offers are based off maximum, not minimum order amounts. Their online store and customer service is mainly there to pay lip service to serving DIYers who want to spend the money. You are probably better off buying off the truck anyways if the dealer is good. That way you have access to the flyers and the dealer may have some surplus/refurbished inventory from time to time which can save you a significant amount of money.

Oh I agree with all that. But Im not turning wrenches for a living any more, so tracking down a truck after work hours isnt easy or practical much of the time. I know im missing out on any promos that might be on at the time, its a trade off.

We regularly get screwed with shipping up here. Its almost constant. The deal we had going here with SO Canada was awesome while it lasted.

Kind of ironic OP is buying SnapOn and his avatar is Power Fist. Princess Auto is going to want restitution. You will likely have to withdraw your name from PA’s customer mailing list.
HAHA. The way PA is with their mailing list, I think they already know:oops:. I swear, I never get their catalogues even though I ask the cashiers to confirm im still on the list lol.

But come on, isnt Power Fist the best name for a tool brand or what

I'm pretty sure there's a handling charge also when you get to the end.

PAL stopped mailing out their catalogues a couple of years ago, only in store pick-up. Think they are shooting themselves in the foot......but they have the numbers, so they would know.

Actually PA is mailing the small catalogues again. The girl at the store said that everything is tied to your phone number. If you arent spending and tieing it to your Phone Number, they'll drop you from the mailing list.

I told her I spent way too much at the store to be dropped  She did acknowledge that their mailing system ***** and sometimes people who should be getting catalogues arent. Mix that with Canada Post's great service in Rural NS and I probably only get 1 in 6 catalogues actually making it to my box.

my local Snap-On dealer gives me 15% off, covers sales tax.

Definitely not as convenient as the website since I'm a desk jockey.

That is surprising to hear. I know for us in the US free shipping didn't kick in until $200 and it's been that way for a couple of years. Forced me to try and manage my orders around that but we all know $200 isn't hard to hit with Snap-on. What is frustrating was I needed some tools relatively quickly and tried calling them up to get linked up with a truck to pick. They checked with the local driver to see if they had what I needed but they refused to put me in direct contact with the driver. I get that I am a home user but I know there is a couple shops here in town that get regular visits and would be more than willing to meet during those visits but Snap-on corporate definitely seemed to want me to order directly from them vs the local dealer.
