. I get it though I bought air swivel at lowes for $7 to bring them home and take a drill and too them to make more efficient. China is pretty much unavoidable at this point, I just make a conscious effort to look elsewhere when I can.At least the company it still paying into the system when you buy it from a US retailer.
I give Credit to Snap on They have seemed to be busy with the new press, new products, the market hike, It looks good for the future. And the used market will be better as well supply and demand. I agree when I was in highschool all the talk was about college I did 2 years. I use it daily but I don't get paid more for it. If I had to do it again I'd go Leo, Fed gov, or a union trade, even transit its the way to go 25 year and retire. Open a side business and live your life.

Leave it to a CEO to forget one of the BIG reasons why some manufacturing jobs have a very hard time filling...PAY!!! Let's take the job of manual machinist. It takes AT LEAST a full year of school just to be minimally qualified to do that job. In my area, those entry level machinist jobs in manufacturing start at around $14.00 an hour. That's UNDER what's being kicked around as what ought to be our next minimum wage.
Also consider, that education is one year of your TIME, the cost comes out of YOUR pocket...and even community colleges are getting rather expensive for an 18-20 year old kid on his own, or from someone who is poor, but trying to better himself.
CNC machinist jobs start at around$18.00 an hour...and most CNC courses require the manual machinist courses before you start down the CNC route. So that's more money, time, and resources you have to pay for...for an $18.00hr job? F-that!!!
To be fully qualified as a machinist, manual and CNC; expect about a two year road. When you're done if you do well in my area (Northern Nevada), you're looking at $19.00-$26.00 per hour. If you were to get a two year nursing degree, you're in the $36.00-$45.00 per hour range. So which one makes the most sense?
We have broken the backs of unions. Now I'm not exactly pro-union, they come with a LOT of baggage, but on the other hand, manufacturing wages didn't start declining until the unions were thoroughly beat down. If we could clean up the corruption of unions, and give them back some power in Washington, we could see unions expanding and wages increasing in these areas where the gaps lie. Think about it, UAW jobs don't go un-filled. Because they pay well, have good benefits, and the employers contribute greatly to their education and expansion of their skills. We need more of that in manufacturing, and as much as I dislike unions (for various reasons), I really don't see any other way it's going to happen. Lower middle class use to have lobbyist's in Washington; they were from the unions. The middle class has NO representation in Washington anymore on ANY level...is it just conincidence that the middle class is in rapid decline?
When only massive corporations and billionaires have access to law makers, we can't be too surprised when all the laws add to their pockets at the expense of the middle class.
