I was wondering if anyone knows much, or anything regarding these chess sets. I heard that they were supposedly awarded to some dealers, whether or not that is true I don't know. It looks like a nice set & it is made by a company named Drueke. The chess pieces are made out of extensions and sockets and are chrome and gold plated. They also have Snap On part numbers on the pieces just like their sockets and extensions. They are stored in a miniature top box that is made of metal. The board itself is made of hardwood and looks well made. Any information would be appreciated as I've never seen one of these before. Thanks!

You can really tell the difference between the cheap chinese knock off snap on merchandise and the real thing.Amazing quality.

I used to collect chess sets, but kinda got away from it. That's as sweet as any I ever had in my collection.

Don't have the funds at the moment, but if I did, I'd pay $500 for a set like that. Or at least ask Santa Claus to bring me one.

I understand the OP is looking for more info on this set, but where'd the photos come from???
If this was a dealer awarded item, maybe one of our resident Snap-On franchisees would have some info.

That is way cool.

My current Chess pieces are manufactured by Drueke, they make very nice stuff. Carved wood, weighted etc...

Photos came from my kitchen table. I just got this set as it came up on a local CL posting. I didn't know anything about it but it looked neat and being a Snap On junkie I decided to go take a look at it. The set is brand new and has never been used. The guy I got it from was going to display it in his living room but had some other chess set in there instead. He said the Snap On one just sat in a closet. I believe he said that a friend had given it to him.

I was hoping the same thing regards to some of the Snap On dealers on this board having some info.

The board is nicely made and all of the the pieces in the miniature box must weigh 10+ lbs at least.

Thats just plain Bad ***, I'd pay 500 dollars for a set like that. It wouldn't just sit around either

I vaugely remember seeing that set a couple of years ago. I dont remember what the deal was with it. I dont think that it was a sales award but I could be wrong.

That thing is very cool thanks for sharing.

I can tell you, making those boards is not easy, one little slip and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Awesome. I play chess but not much lately. That's one of the sweetest chess sets I've seen and I look for cool chess sets. I always wanted to make a custom metal set. Maybe some day when my I have a CNC setup in my garage.

So who in this thread plays chess?
Rarely , i prefer checkers although i did pick up a peruvian made chess set a couple months back.Wood board , clay pieces all hand painted (Theme : Incas vs Conquistadores).Ridiculous price , something like $40US not including shipping. Also it was fair trade so the workers get treated better than the Chinese slaves.

I normally hate novelty chess sets, because it's so distracting to remember that Minnie Mouse is the queen and Pluto is the rook. But those pieces look similar enough to staunton pieces that I think it wouldn't be distracting at all. Agreed, that would be neat to have in the garage or even the living room.

So with much thought & regret, I've decided that it 's not practical to have such a nice chess set with a 6 yr old and a 3 yr old, it's just a disaster waiting to happen. It's also a waste to keep this set stored in a closet so I've decided to sell it so someone can truly appreciate it. I figured I would put it up for sale here before other venues as I know there are many Snap On "addicts" like myself that would enjoy and love this set. here's a link to the for sale thread:
