Snap On Combo Pliers Misaligned?

Hey I just got a 3 piece set of Snap On pliers. PL307ACF. It includes 47ACF Talon Grip Combination pliers.

The talon grip knurling is supposed to interlock. And it does on mine, sort of. If I close the pliers straight so the sides are flush, the talon grip machining does not mesh.

If I close it a little crooked so the sides are not flush, the talon grip machining will mesh up.

Is this normal? Should I try to get this replaced?

Just use them. They are pliers that will never be closed all the way (like you have them) when being used. When the teeth are lined up with each other the sides are smooth which is how you want them to be.....a tooth biting against another tooth.

Exchange it and no, that's not normal. I don't think it'll have any effect on function of the pliers but yeah, it's irritating especially when you spent money on it. I have the same set/pliers and it was straight when I got it a couple of years ago.

Thanks, that is how mine work. The teeth poke the teeth on the other side.

Mine also closes this way depending on how the pliers feel. There’s a little play so it can close two different ways. When it closes like this, the pyramid points are touching.

Oh my gosh, you guys are ridiculous. They are really nice pliers, not precision instruments. Get a life. If any of you spent half as much time using tools as you do whining on the internet you would know the tolerances you're demanding would require them to cost even more than they do, with no practical value whatsoever.

I checked some YouTube videos (should have done that first). Mine are completely normal.

Its not a crimper. It would serve no purpose to close with the teeth completely aligned.
