Snap-On Continental

Found this hiding under my work bench. I think it fell under there when I was unloading a bunch of tools that were passed down some years ago.

What is the continental for? I did a quick search here and on google, not much came up. Hold old might it be?

Hmmm, no one in my family ever had anything to do with airlines that I know of. Plenty of construction equipment though.

It doesn't seem to have a date stamp either. If it's in fact from a corporate setting, maybe they didn't date code tools for some reason. Warranty maybe?

Really? I worked for Intel for a number of years and I find it hard to believe that they would have something like this. I would love to see a picture but I expect it indicated something other than the Intel the semiconductor manufacturer.

Walking through some facilities one day I saw a bunch of Snap On boxes. Knowing what they cost, I almost had a heart attack. Apparently they were in storage from and some other dept had bought them. My organization would never spend Snap On money.

No,THAT Intel. I assume that Snap on did the etching, but Ive never seen any other owner mark laser etchings on Snap on tools.

Here is the story behind it. The detent spring was rusty and liable to contaminate a copper slurry used in a coating process, so it was rejected in a quality audit. The Snap on guy wouldn't warranty it as it was still functional and rust wasn't covered in the warranty.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I will try to do some more research by way of either Snap-On or my grandfather where I assume it came from.

It actually looks more like an impact extension after I played with it for a while. I'm pretty sure it's larger diameter than any of my other chrome extensions. I'm not sure what the original finish of it would have looked like since I think it spent most of it's time in California. I'll keep ya posted if I find anything out about it. The thing that intrigues me is the lack of a manufacturer year stamp.

Its not impact, has a war time finish. its 1/2 dr. another clue, its probably from the 40s. The logo has / in snap/on instead of -
