As the title says post your Snap-on cordless goodies in here!

Any color, any tool that uses a battery pack. If you could include how long you have been using them and if you would recommend it to others, likes/dislikes, etc.

But as always: :needpics:

I have had many Snap-on cordless tools over the years and this is my recent buy, CT761 in red though I wish I got it in orange. Been using it quite a bit for interior work and it is a monster. I have a lot of Milwaukee tools but this thing not being brushless still holds its own.

Pros: has power and a lot of it for its size, future repair of tool is fairly simple and parts are easy to get.

Cons: price tag will be a tough one for those not in the field to be able to justify, warranty only one year but repair costs are not bad.

The hammer blows up on the 761. If you like it enough that you don't want the down time get a spare. Im on my third and I don't consider myself using it hard. Otherwise one of my favorite tools.

I have the 14.4 ratchet, 3/8 impact, and drill in the shop in red. Have had the impact repaired once in the two years I've had them. Was used hard daily for the first year.

I have the 14.4 impact and ratchet in green in the service truck. Had the impact
replaced once under warranty. Daily use in harsh conditions. The impact will break, but it's so fricken perfect that I don't mind paying for a repair when it happens, or just buying a new bare tool. The forward/ reverse trigger is the best feature, forward/ reverse switch like a drill has would **** IMO.

Which part breaks exactly? Hammer, anvil? I noticed that the cone comes off easy with the four screws.

Nice collection, how do you like the multi charger?

To be honest it's the best part of the package! I no longer have a bunch of single purpose charges useful for only one battery type. Yes it was expensive but my clutter free space is priceless.

I'll start with the 18v 1/2 impact is a beast. Never let me down. The 3/8 is great for exhaust and suspension work. I absolutely hate the black finish. It peeled off so easily. Wish it was powder coated.

14.4V I'll start to the left. Polisher. Good for small jobs. It would overheat and shut down until it cools down. Screwdriver. Great for interior work. I love it! The 3/8 is my most used cordless tool. Does everything you want and it's small enough for tight spaces.

3/8 14.4V ratchet. Great for tight engine work. Busts nuts loose very easily.

14.4V lights. the hood light is great! Works perfectly. The smaller light is OK. Wish it had a magnet attached to it. It's too big to be just a hanger.

Forgot to take a pic of the saw. I'll take a pic tomorrow

Don't take this the wrong way as I'm not trying to poo poo on your parade, but my opinion of snap on cordless tools has been a windy one. I've used their cordless impacts (both 3/8 and 1/2) and haven't been nearly as impressed as with milwaukee or even better, ingersoll rand (not a fan boy comment, just a comparison). The 12v ratchet snap on makes is very nice though, i will admit. I used the **** out of it and it did just fine, it's the reason i bought my IR cordless ratchet(s). I burned out a drill drilling out rivets and it was BRAND NEW. I've also seen MANY guys have to return immediately or service frequently their MG725 (i know, not cordless, but still a "power" tool). I'm just not all that impressed. The only two things i've used and liked out of the line of cordless tools were a 1/4" cordless driver and that ratchet. And i HATE how the black paint peels off. It makes the tools look cheap. To each their own, i won't sit here and hate. I'm sure some of you would hate on my collection of IR 20V and 12V tools as well as my Milwaukee 20V stuff.

I never take offence to opinions. I've had very good experience with snappy cordless in my line of work. Only tool I had to send back for repair was the 3/8 14.4V ratchet. At home I use Bosch and dewalt. They do their jobs well but I wouldnt feel confident using them at work. The feel isn't there.

I haven't had any trouble out of my MG725's. I have both the hog ring & pinned versions. I use them most frequently for 4X4 lug nuts, suspension, pulling pinion nuts, and my differential clamshell puller. My 3/4" and 1-1/2" impact sockets are my most used. Sometimes I wonder if the folks with MG725 problems have any kind of reasonably clean/dry air and/or lube them. Some shops have horrible air lines with water pouring out of the tools.

I did have to send my CTR761B out for repair. Brand new from Snap On the LED light did not work. It's a very nice ratchet. I prefer it to the Milwaukee's I tried. Just fits better in my hand and I prefer the button control over the lever control.

The smaller light is great depending on what you're doing. It's certainly better than any corded drop light I've ever used.

My favorite impact - The SO CT8850 1/2 in 18 v cordless impact.

Added the cordless underhood light ECUHA158 but couldn't get an actual pix since it's hanging against the wall of our puny garage and our truck is blocking the view.

Does anyone own a CTL761 light?

The switch is sensitive. It requires a solid straight down press. If you push on an angle it will feel like it was switched but wasn't. For what it costs I'd expect better. Others put up with that defect. Since I didn't really need it I sent it back.

The 14.4 volt stuff is absolutely awesome for me. Flashlight. Polisher. Screw gun. 1/4 ratchet. Battery run time is the best I've ever used. I have the larger battery version of the 3/8" impact but prefer the Mac one I have over the snap on. I have the Mac 1/2" too.

Hammer clutch gets wiped out. I noticed it really doesn't like being used on chrome, extensions, bit sockets etc... Anything that can bounce the torque back into the anvil. Its underbuilt for the torque it puts out.

I've got a half dozen or more 9.6v tools from Snap On, CT30 and CDR30, etc. I used the 3/8" impacts for transmission tear down for years till the batteries got obsoleted and to pricey, now I've got a drawer full of impact guns, a few 3/8" drills, and several work lights, plus a dozen or so chargers with no batteries. Being out of the business now for over 10 years, they just sit.
A few are pretty much still new in the case, just the batteries got used up on other tools.
I've been waiting for an affordable battery option for these to come about but it doesn't seem likely.

I did buy a few newer, 12v, and 14.4v impact guns but didn't like the added weight, the 9.6v was just right all around for what we used them for. I have a few that were bought when the first came out. I think I bought my first one of these around 1990 or so.
We also had a few 12v Makita impacts but they didn't hold up as well in the slop on the transmission bench.
The last I checked SO wanted $155 for a new battery, and I'd need a dozen or more of them, then the new batteries require a new charger too, so another 5 or 6 chargers at $180 each.
Needless to say I hung up the Snap On guns in favor of a few Milwaukee M12 3/8" guns but the Milwaukee guns are a bit aggressive for bench work, although battery charge life is a lot better. I still preferred the old CU30 though. The old Snap On guns held up better in all the trans fluid and oil where as the rubber grips on the M12 got slimy in short order. The M12 switch also didn't keep out oil and grease as well as the Snap-On. But considering that the M12 cost only as much as a single Snap On battery, it was by far the best replacement for the cost.
I did look back at my early receipts and the guns when they first came out were $175 new with a charger and two batteries off the truck, extra batteries then were $41, the last extra batteries I bought off a truck were $65 in 2001. ($50 in 1995).

I bought at least a dozen sets over the years but after one or two of the newer 12v and 14.4 models I stopped buying Snap On cordless tools. The 9.6v guns are still in working order other than needing batteries, the 12v and 14.4v tools are long gone and dead.

Thanks, will avoid the chrome extensions.

Just wondering..

What makes you buy Snap-On over Milwaulkee Fuel products?

Anyone ever go from Milwaukee Fuel and switch to Snap-On?

I have both and like them both, just depends on personal tastes. I will say the new ratchet has a lot of power and is a win overall but the battery is a little bigger and costs more than the Milwaukee counter part.

Snap-on is still running brushed but the power it puts out is a lot and impressive and it is far easier to take apart and repair if need be.

I would say overall both are great to own.

IMO they are built better. The mil ratchets feel like they are going to snap in half if you pull on them too hard.

I own fuel right now. 1/2 and 3/8 impacts. I owned the snapon previously. I sold them for more than what I paid for it new lol

How do the 14.4 volt CTS725, CTS761 compare to the 9.6 volt CTS 596? The reason I ask, I have the 7.2 volt CTS 561 with a clutch ,which I love but my batteries are dying . I also could use a variable trigger and a little more torque. I do like its smaller size (Carried it on Monday to an offsite job in my pocket). I have a CT761 cordless impact which I also love, butit may be just a little big and heavy for a screwdriver version.

I have the CT761 and it's a love-hate relationship. Love how it packs a punch but really hate how the battery is so damn hard to remove from the gun! I searched around and it seems like few others experience the same problem.

That's absolutely right, I pulled a **** load of torx head bolts out of a trailer deck and I think that's what did mine in. You could feel it in your hand with the torx bit, kind of an unbalanced hard impact. Shortly after it did that with everything. I have a no bit socket rule now.

Traded in my older CTS725 and picked up the CTS761, several great improvements!
