Snap On CT4410 3/8" 14.4V impact torque question

Maybe I am suffering from a bout with stupidity but while doing the brakes on a Toyota Camry I used the CT4410 to remove the lugs nuts - 21mm Matco 3/8" drive deep impact socket - lugs were torqued to 76 ft. lbs. when installed. Yet when I went to remove the caliper bracket mounting bolts which were previously torqued to 79 ft. lbs. using a Matco 17mm 3/8"'drive universal impact socket the damn impact could not loosen the bolts, I had to throw my 3/8" Matco pneumatic impact (500 ft. lb. capacity) on these to loosen them. I even retightend / retorqued them and tried again using a freshly charged battery. Of note the universal socket was only at a 15 degree angle. The CT4410 is rated for 230 ft. lb. removal torque.

You lose torque when using swivels, nature of the beast. Caliper bolts may have been rusted/seized more than the wheels too.

My buddy is unloading a micro 14.4v 3/8 impact, I am tempted but not really sold on cordless yet....how do you like the big brother?

I have 12 cordless 3/8" impact wrenches of which my two favorites are the Milwaukee M12 2451 (I have four) and the Snap On CT4410 (I have two).

No the caliper mounting bracket's bolts were not seized or rusted. I even installed them again and torqued them a second time and tried unloosening them. As to torque loss I fully understand and even at 50% the CT4410 should of whizzed them bolts out of there.

Will find out tonight. The M12's are at work, taking one home since I'm doing the rear brakes and rotating tires. The M12 is rated for only 83 ft. lbs..

Keep in mind break-away torque is achieved under specific situations. They cherry pick bolt head size and thread. Factor in that the specs are bloated and you're losing a lot of torque in the swivel, its really not a surprise.

Alternately you can upgrade. Im selling my very clean 8810A if you're interested

Locktite on the caliper bolts made the difference I am willing to bet.

Never had a bracket come off with a sub 400ft-lb impact.

Nobody torques these bolts to specs, they all get hammered in there with a 1/2" gun.

I have an 8810 too, it just seems that the 4410 is having an estrogen flareup.

For reference since the photos were taken I've added Milwaukee M12 & M18 Fuel 3/8 too. It just seems that the M12 2451 and the SO CT4410 are the two I gravitate too. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205070

Also to clarify, I literally removed the bolt with the pneumatic impact, reinstalled the bolt manually and torqued it to 79 ft. lbs. and the CT4410 would not remove the bolts.

The M12 2451 would not loosen the lugs or the caliper mounting bracket bolts which at 83 ft. lbs. isn't surprising. Yet I believe I found the problem with the CT4410. I brought my green CT4410 from work home and it did the job, so I tried its battery on the red CT4410 and it too zipped the bolts out after they were torqued down. I'm suspecting that my charger at home is most likely not fully charging the batteries to their full voltage.

How's your batteries? If it is indeed a CT4410 and not a CT4410A then it has CTB4145 batteries if they're original to it and they are quite old now.

Both of my CT4410's are CT4410A's, I bought them both in late 2012.
