Hey there guys, I was wondering if anybody has a long term update on the Snap On CT8810 3/8" impact wrench?

I currently have Milwaukee's 3/8 and 1/2 fuel impact wrenches and they perform really well. I find the 3/8 can handle most things but at times cannot break a bolt loose and find myself either breaking it loose manually or bringing out the 1/2.

At times I know the 3/8 wont be able to do it, so I would grab the 1/2 instead. The 1/2 is a bit heavy and can be cumbersome at times. Example would be today I had to pull the rear shocks off my Chevy Trailblazer.

I would like to know how much more powerful the CT8810 is compared to Milwaukee's 3/8 impact.

CT8810 states that it's 230 ft lb with 325 ft lb of breakaway torque
Milwaukee 2654 states 200 ft lbs.

Would the CT8810 provide that extra umph?

Thanks

I've had the 8810 for about two months now and have been really impressed with it. I've used it for tie rod nuts, lug nuts, I've even taken off a couple of axle nuts with it. I have no experience with the Milwaukee gun to compare them though.

I have had mine since it came out and it will handle most jobs without skippin a beat. But still there are a few times where I have to break out my air tools

I am on my second one first one lasts several months but then was down on power, still worked just wouldn't take a lug nut off any more. So I sent it in for repair and when I got it back several weeks later it still didn't have the power. Driver thought it might just be me so we grabbed a new one off the truck and put it on the same lug nut I was talking about and it zipped it right off. My driver gave me the new one as replacement I am a good customer though so it might not work that way for everyone.

Anyways the new one has been good so far, no battery or charger issues either.

I wouldn't count on it for brake caliper bracket bolts. Most of those bolts are large threads with thread lock of some sort. Some air 3/8" won't take them off either. I would say its probably 200 break away give or take. I don't see 325 but I don't have a skidmore either just many months of beating the **** out of one daily.

It is awfully pricey and a Milwaukee has an easy 5 year warranty, in fact you could likely buy the fuel 1/2 and 3/8 for the price of the ct8810

If you already have milwaukee Id just stick with it. I have an older snap on 1/2 nicad battery cordless Ct4XXX (I forget the model number) that has served me damn well for years. But the batts finally are dying out.

i have the 8810, when i work i use it probably a hundred times a day, in places where i probably should be using pnuematic air impact tools, which i dont use because the compressor is always full of water... but i only work on weekends and during the week im in tech school, i leave it at home.

it pulls flywheel housing bolts, motor mount bolts, exhaust header bolts, crossmember bolts all at work, and at home ive used it for lug nuts and front end bolts and nuts.. the lug nuts come right out. it wouldnt stand a chance against head bolts though.

it doesnt pull the torsion arm bolts at work.

but its one of my most useful tools and im glad that i bought it, its one of my best purchases. i cant say much about the long term longevity of the tool yet. but i plan on buying the 7850 half inch impact within the next few days, i really like these style of 18v lithium snapon impacts and since i already have the two batteries i can afford the 7850 for about $230 without the batteries.
