Rumor is that newer batches of the Cynergy 100 teeth ratchets are less problematic than the early ones.

I am in the market for a FHF80A…but curious if I should get the FHF100 instead. Price is essentially the same.

Thanks.

I got the regular length non-flex 3/8 last week and the fhf 100 this week. I haven't used the flex yet but the regular was a little stiff, but after a couple of hours of use it is loosening up. If you push really hard on the directions switch in neutral it will free wheel, but I don't see how this could happen in normal use so I believe they have taken care of that problem. Also if it is kept in a constant motion the Back Drag gets much less quickly. I did notice if you move it, stop, move it, Etc the Back Drag seems a bit higher but if you keep going in a smooth motion it's much better. I do like the slimmer head and the lower swing arc is nice. You can't go wrong with a dual 80 either but this looks like it's going to be a very nice ratchet.

I have the ratchet in question, but my 100 tooth is the chrome handle. I like it, although I wish the flex head had a little more tension for my preference. Head thickness is good, backdrag good. I had more backdrag than my well used dual 80s when new, but now it's comparable, maybe still a bit higher.

If you feel you need the head thickness advantage, go 100 tooth. Otherwise with the dual 80 you know exactly what you're getting.

Thinner head is nice but that is where it ends for me. Maybe I need to use it more but I think it is a pile of chit. I believe mine is an earlier version though that they apparently had some issues with.

I had lost one of my flex head dual 80s and all he had on the truck was the new flex head 100 so that's what I bought....

Snap on man said he would give me money back if I wanted something different, just haven't had a chance to see him since I got the 100 tooth to trade it back in. Maybe I'll try the new version and see what it's like but I'm tempted to go back with an 80 again.

What specifically don't you like about the 100 tooth? The mechanism feels shittier playing with it unloaded but has worked well for me. Sort of like a matco ratchet, feels ****** and clunky spinning by hand, works very well in practice so long as you don't side load the c-clip severely as I like to do.
