I think they finally have it right. The new ratchets come with the new mechanism design, and the rebuild kits with the suffix a contain all those components. They no longer have the freewheeling problem, and the Back Drag is dual 80 or even less with the new spring and lubricant. The new washer for the flex heads seems to prevent the floppy problem also.
I have been messing around with mine for a bit. I have a top notch salesman, but I like to mess around with my ratchets so I rebuild them instead of having him do them. The new kit is kind of a pain to install with the two piece direction lever, but once you get the hang of it it's not bad. I did a little modification on my stubby Flex head by clipping the spring about 15% shorter and I also put a drop of Lucas engine assembly Lube in addition with the super lube and the Back Drag is fantastic, less than the Dual 80 and close to the Koken. It is a bit deceiving on the feel because of 20% more teeth but I'll mess around and figure out a way to measure it. On my long flex head ratchet I didn't clip the spring but I did the same thing with the lube when I overhauled it and it is smooth and strong. I see the roto head ranches are also called Cynergy now but they are the same design as before just renamed. I think these ratchets now are what they should have been initially. They are strong, smooth, don't reverse accidentally or freewheel, have a durable reversing lever, and a thin head profile. I'm very happy with the ones I have that have been overhauled now and the one new one that is a straight production one with all the mods in it already.
