snap on dealers

So after I started my new job I very quickly knew that I did not like the snap on dealer that came to the shop. He's arrogant, rude, crude, his truck is a disaster and he almost never shows up. He had a few of the old style hard handle dual 80's. I bought a few of these ratchets last summer and realized the lack of a Made In USA stamp on it. I mentioned this to the dealer and said it was a mistake on their part to leave it off, but I thought it was a marketing move to broaden their overseas market. So then the guy started telling me how if they weren't made in USA they would be blue point, and that what I said didn't sound right "i've been doing this for 20 years... never heard of that..." type of thing. so I walked off the truck. The way he came off, he was basically calling me stupid and wrong. Moving on, and not trying to start a coo debate...

What's the rules about dealers, I'm pretty sure i'm not alone with the notion of wanting to get rid of this guy. but I want to call my old dealer up whom I think covers parts of that town anyway. But how territorial are these dealers, if we don't want him can we just can Him and get someone else?

This guys truck does not inspire me to open my wallet, it inspires me to get several large bins, a shop vac and a dust pan. His truck is that nasty, you can't walk more then 2 feet behind the drivers seat and there's **** all over the floor. Which is odd because he never has what you need. Anyone else seen tool trucks that are cluttered and un organized?

When it comes to the basic hard line tools he is correct. If it is imported it will be labeled blue point. There are a few exceptions though. He is wrong on the USA stamp thing. They are actually coming back though.

Almost every snappy dealer I've had has cluttered and poorly lit trucks and have to order anything I need. Matco and Mac are close behind my independent dealers have always had killer inventory well lit trucks and wana deal and sell tools. I've had good snap on guys but there lack of dealing and no inventory has always made it tough

I guess I am very lucky then. My snap on guy is great. Always well stocked and clean. Gives me deals. He even moved my tool box for me for free when I sold my shop. My house is not in his area but I just meet him when I need something.

You'll probably have to buy from the old dealer within his territory. I believe he'd be violating his franchise agreement to make a sale or deliver within the new dealer's territory.

Got the Snap On bug years ago working at a friends boat shop. His rep is amazing. Spotless vehicle, in and out.

Found a rep in my area, close to my house. She's great! Has good deals, very accommodating, and gets my special orders on time. When I can't track her down, it's no problem to show up at her house, where she keeps her truck.

No complaints here.

My feeling is, support the dealer that gives you great service.

You cannot just get a new dealer. Your dealer bought that territory, and he wont give it up to someone else. What you can do is, call customer service 877-762-7664 and file a complaint on your dealer. They will take down the information, that his truck is nasty and not well stocked, and send it to his manager. The manager will talk with him and hopefully straighten things out. Thats what you should do, people do it every day.

I wasn't arguing the fact of coo with him between snappy and blue point. Some blue point tools are made in usa, and some of the odd ball SO tools are made overseas, be it spain or wherever. What I was referring to was the Lack of a made in usa stamp on a ratchet known to be made in the usa.

I don't want to piss the guy off, or anybody for that matter. It's not my place to do so. Technically it's the shop owners snap on dealer, not mine so it would be his place to do something. I wasn't sure how the routes worked, but it's the general consensus in the shop that this guy *****. My previous dealer who I still keep in touch with, have a balance with and order from was a million times better. He showed up basically everyweek, and if he didn't he would tell you the week before. His truck was always stocked and clean. He was a profesional. Professionally dressed, well spoken and would go out of his way for you. He's stopped at my house a few times for things.

Somethings are made in China and are not Blue Point ... Especially accessory pieces to their scan tools (the rubber optional cases, cables etc).

Etc.

Not to start a COO war, but just about every tool company offers things that are not made in one country, or are made of components sourced from all over. It is not unique to SnapOn, nor is SnapOn reps trying to hide it that helpful considering COO labeling requirements in the US makes searching this easy.
