I had a set of medium deep metric 3/8 sockets on order recently and they were delivered the same day the Snap On guy handed me the new flyer with this offer. Would that make it “my lucky day”? Needed another 3/8 ratchet for the house anyway...:)

Our dealer left those flyers. My mind is still trying to comprehend the 12pt deep SAE chrome set for $535...

Yeah..there's a few prices in there that make me wanna throw up a little. I'm also confused on why the first deal the sockets are less expensive, but they give you the longer ratchet? I might buy the 3/8 Semi deep metric if I could get the long handled ratchet instead.

I’ve never been a fan of Snap On’s flyers either. I’ve gotten some decent deals from our Snap On drivers but never out of the flier. I kind of get the Buy this get this, if you need to build sets but the prices are always too high for me. What I really don’t understand is the ones where the “deal” is like $5-10 off list price...such a “sale”!

I really miss having a Cornwell driver. Our guy was awesome and the flyer was huge and the deals often pretty good. He was the tool truck driver I did a ton of business with.

It's cheaper because there is one less socket in the set. I'm also guessing that they need a little more enticement to get people to spend that kind of money on SAE sockets when cars have gone totally metric.

Honestly you're probably right on both accounts.

Yet a little part of me wants to be skeptical about both those ideas. Most car mechanics certainly don't need them, but EVTs, city guys, farm and equipment mechanics, industrial settings, SAE is still all over other type of shops. That said it shouldn't matter what they sell. If there's no demand for SAE they can just make less. If they where offering the nicer ratchet with both sets, it'd entice us metric folk to buy MORE sets!

My dealer usually throws another 10-20% discount on top of the flyer prices but 90%will sell tools way cheaper than any discounts from the flyer. Matco was really good with BOGO deals when I was starting out but they went away from it till recently.

With Snap-On I have bought a bogo and swapped the free item for another of greater value and paid the difference

I took advantage of the BOGO 1/4 inch semi deep metrics. By far my favorite set of sockets for the past 25 years. Got me a new set with a flex ratchet. Old set goes to young son who can get another 25 years out of them. Never broken one in all these years even running them on air ratchets and 1/4 air impacts. Best sockets ever for tearing down cars around the body shop.
