It seems like most people love the XL double flex Kabo made ratcheting double box end wrenches under a variety of brands. I think most of them are non-reversible, but some might be reversible with the button the side. Lots of people complain about the non-reversible ones getting stuck and locking you in a position you can't get out of.

I noticed Snap On makes a reversible version of these with a lever switch. Very expensive but I would only need a few sizes. But I won't ever buy both, just reversible or non-reversible. I think the reversible ones have larger heads. My concern is that I won't have as good access benefits from reversible compared to a slimmer non-reversible.

Are these newer reversible XL US-made DBE ratcheting wrenches from Snap On considered the greatest that currently exist?

How much less access will these give compared to the non-reversible? I tried to compare numbers from SO's website, but they seemed pretty similar. I wasn't sure if I should be comparing head width or head depth. It seems like the reversible ones have intentionally deeper fastener contact areas:

So I'm guessing there must be some benefit to having this be deeper. More surface area with the fastener. It's not the reversibility that makes it much larger, it seems to be an intentional design choice from Snap On.

Ignoring any price differences, I'm leaning towards the non-reversible. It seems like it gives greater access for problem solving. With the caveat that you need to pre-plan so you dont get stuck. With how deep the reversible ones are, yeah, you can back up if you get stuck, but you're going to get stuck more often I think.

I have one of the off brands in 13mm x 15mm (sizes I like to have handy). Reversible with the frankenstein buttons. So far, I've not used it in a place where the clearance is an issue.

At this point get a long 3/8 drive flexhead locking ratchet (Snap On)

Get some Astro nano sockets and go to town.
Head on the one I saw at my friends shop earlier today is not a lot wider/perhaps longer. Think he said it was a 100tooth ratchet that he picked up recently.

All of these style wrenches with the protruding "socket" ends are reversible no matter the brand.

You absolutely want this feature, without the protrusion they are next to useless IMO.

I don't know exactly how much those Snap-On ones cost (I'm guessing $500 plus a set), I paid £119 for a five piece Mountain/Kabo set !!!!

The non-reversible ones don't appear to have that protrusion.
