Snap On Drawer Guard Install

In another thread about the tops of my drawers being scratched up, there seemed to be interest in the drawer guards that snap on sells. I had some time to install the ones that I got, and my new side cab came in also, so I snapped a few pics as I installed them. They came to me in a nice heavy cardboard tube, and they ship right from jonco. They have very clear instructions, alcohol wipes, and the drawer guards have a thick plastic protective wrap on them, and double sided tape on the back side. They are very easy to install, first you pull the lock and roll slides out, then wipe the drawer top with the alcohol pad, pull the paper off of the tape, center the guard, and press the whole thing into place. There are little tabs on each end that you bend under the drawer lip, and the one on the right side has to be very tight to the bottom, or it will mess up you lock and roll, so I used a chunk of cardboard on the top, and gave each one a good squeeze with a pliers to make them nice and tight. I found it easier to pull the protective film from the guards before I installed them, as it is a pain in the *** to get it off.
The guards fit perfect, seem like very high quality units, and man do they have a nice polished finish on them. I am very happy with the way that it turned out.

Here is a few pics of the new box, with the new side cab, and a few drawers! I don't have stuff really packed in tight, I have plenty of room to grow into this box.

Those drawer guards are **** man. I've been wanting to get some -- couldn't decide between polished or brushed. I hear the Margaards are the OEM for the Snappy (if previous threads are correct).

jaysonb,

I like your garage. It looks homey and like it gets used. Rare around here.

Keep on wrenching...

I'm looking to get some drawer guards too. I find the gloss black on my krl shows fine scratches very easily. What did you pay for them?

OK, stupid question: are those guards custom fit (box specific) or just by drawer size? I have an old KR650/655 combo and I'd like to put the brushed ones on the drawers as after 24 years they're all scratched up and I don't want to try to paint the edges.

Is that a 7022? How much did you pay for your side cab if you don't mind me asking.

The box is a KRL722, and the side cab was about $2000.
